anvil vs mercury

I set metal working anvil in a tub of liquid mercury metal. unfortunately the anvil was just a bit too long for the tub.

The sound effect you made when you wiped the top or the mercury was what made this video work!

You've probably done this and will post it soon, but I'll mention the idea just in case... I'd love to see a similar video featuring a smaller heavy object floating in mercury (to avoid the issue you had with the anvil's size). Maybe a bowling ball? Also when doing these, a couple cool things could be to see you push the object to the bottom for a moment, to prove they're floating, or also tying them up with some rope and somehow measuring the force you require to life them up from the mercury. Anyway... I love these mercury videos! Keep'em coming! :D :D :D

Can mercury be used as a cleaning fluid? Like dry cleaning, but with mercury.

What happens when you fire a bullet into mercury? What would an explosion under mercury look like?

Nice! I remember seeing a cannonball floating. Anvil is cooler. Any way to incorporate a coyote? Also, painting the word ACME on the anvil would be a nice touch.

Ah you have guessed at a video that I have been wanting to do for a long time.

CodysLab

yes, I have used it to clean gold off of gold plated nickel electrical contacts before. here is a link: http://goldrefiningforum.com/~goldrefi/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=23230

What is it about that mecury that reminds me of the T1000. Man that was the coolest villain ever.

Cody's Lab. The only channel I know with enough mercury to float an anvil

I LOVE wiping the dirt/dust off of the top!

Fun video. I wonder if the anvil would float better upside-down. It would be less top-heavy but might still stick out enough to tend to fall over.

Haha awesome

Needs more mercury, clearly. :D

Looks like you need a larger tub so the anvil doesn't hit the sides

Not gonna lie, I think it's kinda funny you didn't measure to see if the anvil would fit before this. The science still there though, and don't worry about perfection. The errors and goof-ups are part of the fun.
