Dear Patrons,

Apologies for the lack of updates recently! The design team have been having a lot of fun preparing our Space Western release.

We have worked to a strong theme set around a shootout in a bar - Its all fun and card games till someone makes their point with a lever action rail gun!

We've included a huge amount of modularity and separate shells in the designs so the individual elements will fit with a wide range of other models and previous months sets - if you want more "Space" try mixing in some Cyberpunk for example.

We've even made all the Hats separate shells, so you can stick a western hat on any model in your digital collection!

Thanks!

Team Anvil

Very niche, but reasonably appealing with Stargrave and 5 Parsecs on the horizon. Any chance of us seeing the militia/jungle fighters on digital forge in the (ideally reasonably near) future?

Will the hats have a separate stl file?

Anonymous

That's my Stargrave and Five Parsecs crew sorted, between this and the Cyberpunk pack!

anvildigitalforge

No, we cant provide separate STL's/supported versions for every possible combination of shells, but it's a few seconds work to separate in Blender, Mesh Mixer or similar.

Interesting! 1. I agree with Andrew Dickinson that this is very niche, but you never know what you can use in a kitbash. 2. Wow, a is that a combined lever- and pump-action gun in picture #2? Very 40k, now that I think about it. 3. I appreciate Anvil going the way of separate shells and teaching their customers what to do with that. The January bot project with Blender was also very interesting. 3a A few months ago you asked wether you should preserve the position information of parts. It would make it easier to assemble a complete miniature in Blender or Meshmixer or even a good slicer. I think the majority voted "No". I think you should ask that again in a few months when more customers understand the value of this. One of the reasons I like Maker's Cult is that they do this by default. 3b. This will, however, clash with your idea of only delivering supported files, because those usually demand a different orientation.

That robot bartender is definitely finding a home on my Cyberpunk table though 😉

anvildigitalforge

1. We will try and mix it up a bit , some months will have a more niche theme just to keep things interesting.. endless Trench Fighters is less fun! 2. Not deliberately.. but I see what you mean! 3. Thanks, preserving positional information is something I am looking at at the moment and we may be able to implement it going forward. It depends on how much extra work it is and whether people are happy to pay more for it. A majority of our supported files will actually work ok with pose positioning, or we could supply two copies.. there are a few options to consider. Thanks for your feedback! :)

Love every bit of this set!

Anvil, you guys are killing it! Thanks for the western theme. I didn't even consider mixing it with futuristic stuff, makes it even better!

Love the look of the lever action weapons!

Very cool!

I didn't know I wanted this, but I really do!

I honestly have no interest in Westerns (Space or otherwise) generally, but I did love Trigun when it came out. Knowing what I do of the science of asteroids or exo-planets and the efficiency forcing robotics over human miners... I don't think there will be a return to Western culture or aesthetics, save from people who were obsessed with it, few and far between by the time colonization is feasible. That all said... some of this could work as something akin to WestWorld where it is a theme park or the like, and ka few one-shots where a party investigates things there could be interesting. In addition, the entire bar and bartender robot backdrop could fit anywhere. I might not be as interested in the others, but for the bar, jukebox, and bartender setup alone, it is worth renewing. The only thing that seems missing, given the description of the theme, is a poker table and stool set, in order to fill out the scenario.

very nice i think these cowpokes will be showing up as npcs in my fallout rpg once lockdown lifts

Cool stuff, would love to see some mounted options. Some horses would be super cool. Bonus points if the horses are part cyborg vampire hunter d style.

Just in time for Stargrave, if anyone's planning a Firefly-inspired crew.

At first I thought "I don't really have a use for these" but as I scrolled through them they just have so much CHARACTER! I love these and will be glad to have them if I ever do suddenly find a use for Sci-Fi Western minis. You know... Ive been wanting to try that comic book paint style and these would be fun to try it on.

See, you say "Scifi western" but i say Slap some leather and brass on it and use these buggers for some Steampunk/victoriana. :P

Sean Masters

A little steampunk or magic western would be awesome!

Do we get the saloon as well?

Esben Christiansen

The Bar is always a welcome sight :) but this Western theme is a nice thing as one can easily make it steampunk or regular western, or a western theme park gone wild :)

I see that it says the hats are separate shells. But the visor/robot head looks like the hat is sculpted on. Are all of the heads available without hats?

Anonymous

Yes, even the robot one. It's the same head as used in the Robo- Bartender / Croupier (there are 3 options)

There is one (poker table, hands holding cards, poker chips, etc.) It's just not been spoiled yet
