hoi hows it going

I'm trying to develop a large format poster called "Right-wing queensland - a self fulfilling prophecy?', which is gonna be a celebration of some of that states progressive or leftist milestones. As a way to kick back against the framing of the state as homogenously backward. Feel like Qld gets treated like an australian appalachia, maligned and endlessly projected onto n that limits the possibilities of what we might come to see happen there!!!!! the perceived limitations are repeated like mantras.

"For a majority of Australians, Queensland is more a state of  mind than a state of their nation. As such, ‘Queensland’ excuses them  from doing much about what is wrong in their own states: ‘If things are  so bad there, then we can’t be too bad here’." - Humphrey McQueen, in his excellent 1978 essay 'Queensland: a state of mind'

This is the rough layout so far without the text or extra drawings added. hoping to finish it in the next week or two, i'm just tying off the research. finding some great stories about the state, workers burning canefields, the only communist ever elected to Australian Parliament, an egged prime minister, one of the first ever punk bands , beating NSW in banning gay conversion therapy

drew the below pic in support of Palestine, not sure if it's completely finished yet still tinkering, the final form is gonna come out through Overland this week sometime, so pls dont repost it from here if thats ok, n pls let me know if u hav any feedback. hoping to see lots more industrial interruptions taking place, esp since the ceasefire is utter bullshit, "there's no peace if there's silence" etc

on saturday morning before the most recent Palestinian rally, a few of us from the Workers Art Collective arranged with our friend Ramsey to host some crew n make placards for that day n maybe future use. They turned out pretty nicely i think, and the morning itself was rly special :

We are gonna run a similar workshop with Flat Out in a few weeks, as part of their 'homes not prisons' campaign. If you're part of a push that cld do with some signs (and also an offline group hang chatting n making stuff), look us up we are happy to facilitate these workshops, $ is not necessary if ur group or organisation dont have any budgets thats ok.

below is Nicky Minus' beautiful new poster, and there is another rally on next saturday

ive been feeling a bit smashed lately as i try to tie off this longform book, which is like 9/10ths done?! been trying not to take on any more work the last while to focus on all of that. but last wk an organiser from United Workers Union asked me to draw something in support of Tip Top workers who were about to strike across three sites. i cldnt say no to getting to draw about BREAD!!!!!! tbh

in good news, the workers won the strike before it even began. all 3 sites were fully prepared to take indefinite industrial action, but before it kicked off the bosses shat pants and gave in to *all of their almost ten demands*, lmaooo. as UWU said "workers only won this fantastic deal because they were prepared to fight and ready to take indefinite strike action!".
obviously strikes rule, they build capacity and militancy and they exercise a muscle that can otherwise atrophy - but they're also heaps taxing and potentially messy, so this is a great outcome for the members and their union i reckon :-)
if anyone knows of any other big strikes coming up pls lemme know, we cld try get Workers Art Collective ready to churn out some stuff in support n to come along.

drew the below cover for Red Flag Books forthcoming celebration of the student / worker anti-war and free speech movements that happened in the US in the 1930s. i didnt ask for any coin from them cos they run on the smell of an oily copy of the communist manifesto, so thank u guys for effectively paying me to make it :-P

congrats to the following ppl who won the random draw for those Sydney Opera House banners:

Lucy W and Ben S i will mail you guys ur banner this wk :-)

i dont think i have sent through this goofy piece i made as a gift for my buddy Tom, it was fun to make i wanna do more stuff like this, less ranty ~

it is possible that i already spammed u with these songs via text message, but if not!!!!! the tracks 'dangerous' and 'the metrologist' from Liz Stringers new album are so gooj please hav a listen to them!

also rly liked this drawing i saw by Jess Johnson the other day

ok i might leave it there for now, thankyou very much for the continued support!!!!!

PS continuing with my recent tradition of ripping off 1970s gay magazine advertisements pls enjoy this heavily plagiarised content :

(but more importantly congratulations to Diego Franco, deliveroo rider who alongside the TWU last week won their unfair dismissal case against the company, a landmark case that cld lay the groundwork to building proper power for riders wew
