hey hey, above is this new poster developed for Flat Out and Overland https://overland.org.au/2021/04/the-open-and-shut-case-against-prison-expansion/ it's part of the 'Homes Not Prisons' coalition campaign to oppose the Victorian governments $188.9 million expansion of the "Dame Phyllis Frost" Centre, a maximum-security prison for women in Ravenhall in Melbourne’s west. The plans include 40 new solitary confinement units, and form part of a $1.8 billion expansion of prisons across Victoria. despite dramatic reductions in prisoner numbers during the pandemic, Daniel Andrews remains committed to building thousands of new prison cells - even though for example Dame Phyllis Frost prison alone has hundreds of empty beds, before construction and expansion has even begun.

'Homes not Prisons' is a campaign calling on the Victorian Government to stop the expansion of Dame Phyllis Frost and re-allocate the budget for prison building to public housing.

You can support the Homes not Prisons campaign by signing on to the open letter here and joining the Homes not Prisons coalition, through their website which will launch in the next couple of days.

Shout out to 1980s cartoonist William Waltzman for the original cartoon concept hope u dont mind that we pinched it wherever u are, we figured both are working toward the same objective!

below are a few more of these 'labour slogan clip-art' drawings i've been working on. calling this series 'held in common'. they're all unlicensed and free for any rank and file workers to use in their workplace organising efforts, an offer which im happy to report has been taken up by about a dozen sites so far. funded by u Patreon supporters thankuuu, definitely wldnt have time to work on these otherwise <3

Another couple of Green Bans Walking Tours are happening, tomorrow and in a fortnight on Friday 14th May. If u haven't been on one of these before i cant recommend it highly enough!! Pretty special to hear the stories and insights directly from Dave Kerin. u can get tickets from here ($10 concession, or there's a pay-what-you're-able option if u need)

had the pleasure of working on an emblem n shirt design for Caity Parker, a proud working class boxer from Perth whose training has been supported by the CFMEU WA for years now, and is about to head to the Tokyo Olympics. fun to work on something a bit different to my usual schtick and research boxing iconography a bit, n to develop it all in collaboration w Caity who is an absolute legend. u can watch a short film about her here if ur interested https://vimeo.com/434893481

some of the neat boxing imagery i found on Pinterest which it turns out is not just full of 'Live laugh love' shit, it actually rules?!!?

also been obsessed with 'vintage gay', a twitter bot that automatically curates and posts old 70s and 80s ads for gay bars, bookstores, adult theatres etc https://twitter.com/vintage_gay

there are heaps of sick illustrations and border patterns and fonts n compositions. fully intending to pick the eyes out of a stack of the old designs. im looking forward to future illustrations for blokey unions that will be discretely chock full of elements lifted from BDSM club ads etc. i told my friend about this n she said she cld already see the influence and that it actually isnt very subtle lol oop

here's another in that 'definition' series, 'company doctor' and a few other ones that are in various stages of development:

and below is my nerdy spreadsheet of future terms to illustrate. as usual feel free to suggest other ones. hoping to be done with this series kinda soon...

if u wanna go into the draw to win one of these banners dont forget to click 'like' on this post so i know that ur interested, if u didnt do that on the previous post a couple of weeks ago. new supporters will automatically go into the draw, n i will pluck two names at random. i'll let yas know how that goes next week some time n post them out soon after then. to the handful of new supporters (hey! thanks!) i will post u some stuff in the mail in a fortnight.

hope to see some of you this saturday at the melbourne May Day event :-)
