above is the rough sketch for a new drawing celebrating the fact that the final stages of construction on the sydney opera house were carried out under democratic workers control. i wanted to try and make that story part of what we see when we look at the place. below is the final version:

it will be published by Overland next wk, pls dont share it around til its out proper thru them. thanks to Dave Kerin for helping with it. i like the soft pink vibe, i think its good to have different kinds of tones for industrial art. not that there's anything wrong with the CFMEU style snake-on-fire-strangling-a-bloody-dog imagery hahahah, labour struggle can be a tough game so its good for some of the artwork to reflect that, and a lot of the members love it, but different shit appeals to different ppl (thats part of the reason why i love the diversity of styles in Workers Art Collective so much). here are some other colour combos i tried out before arriving at the final version:

here are the 4th and 5th drawings in this 'definitions' series, starting to come together:if there are any of these kinds of terms you'd like to see defined feel free to suggest the next ones i draw.and a couple more from the 'clip-art' series im working on hahaha. if anyone wants me to translate any of these into any other languages lemme know. still keeping an eye out for walls to slap them up on, if u know of any pls send me a msg

got a bunch of stickers made up last wk, among other things. im gonna post them out to ppl who support at the $10+ next wk, pls update ya postal address thru patreon if u have moved! for ppl who support at a lower rate feel free to send me a message and ill post u some

there's a new episode of the People's History of Australia podcast out now, all about the 1969 uprising that saw a million workers strike (when the population was only around 12 million) and change alot of shit http://www.peopleshistory.com.au/index.php/2021/02/04/episode-6-the-1969-clarrie-oshea-general-strike/.
the comic about the upsurge that i made through the RTBU a couple of years ago can be found here https://overland.org.au/2019/05/how-a-persecuted-union-movement-fought-back/ i still have some copies of the print edition of the thing, if anyone wants me to mail u one feel free to let me know.

thanks mates <3

This is cool Sam ✊ My grandfather worked on raising the steel frame of the Opera House (he was a crane driver), but to the best of my knowledge he wasn’t working on the site during this final phase – I’ll ask him though...

Oo interesting, pls do lemme know if he was involved in the last bit. I was talking to someone today about how great it wld be to get some oral history recordings dun. I read that the whole build took 14 years and literally 10,000 workers to complete!
