caitlin

thank you for so much content this week, we appreciate it!

Tomasina Hill

RIP Phillip Seymour Hoffman, a legendary actor

Finnick Odair is THAT bitch. One of my favorite characters from The Hunger Games world. This movie is so good, it definitely exceeded everyone’s expectations for the sequel. I like how we got to know the other tributes a lot better than in the first movie. All of the characters are so great.

Portia Crain

Now just imagine being 16 and reading the books at night when I am supposed to sleep, it was spectacular shocks. When it revealed the clock thing I literally shut the book and screamed "shut up" waking my mom... lol

Kathryn T

What Katniss wrote on the manequin she hung was Seneca Crane, the name of the game maker who Snow killed at the end of the previous movie. That's where you grabbed the name Sinead. She was basically threatening that the same thing was going to happen to Plutarch

Mariana

I LOOOOVE THIS MOVIE!! It hypes me up every single time. So glad you enjoyed it, especially after we were all hyping it up and that sometimes gets expectations too high to reach.

Jenna

These comments basically covered the character stuff and other things you got mixed up 😂 This movie annihilates the sophomore slump notion with sequels. The third book/last movies are perfectly fine, Catching Fire is just that bitch. So glad you enjoyed it, thanks as always for all the content and you’re genuine reactions!! The shirt was amazing.

JT

This is a literal masterpiece!! One of my favorite films of all time!! Can’t wait to watch this ahh

Prem Parekh

Alright so a couple of explanations without further spoiler: 1) The cannon they were talking about when Peeta got shocked by the fence was the cannon they fire when a player dies, not a game weapon 2) "Saneed" is not actually a person, they person who Katniss hung was Seneca Crane, the weird beard game maker from movie 1. This guy is Plutarch Heavensbee, and yeah, he has been working as a double agent. Also, he was played by Phillip Seymour Hoffman, who passed away before the 4th movie was released unfortunately. 3) They did not do the painting of Rue to throw her off, that was actually Peeta's showcase. He painted that which inspired Katniss to also do art in the form of hanging the dummy. 4) They did not at all mess up the next 2 movies, this is just the best one because of all the awesome twists and all. The hardest thing about the next two is that there are no more games, it is now just the story of the revolution and bringing down the capitol, so some people called it boring, but if you can swallow that change, it is AMAZING.

Hedda Dybvadskog

Haymitch actually competed in, and won, the 2nd quarter quell, with the twist that yeqr being that there were twice as many tributes than a normal year, so 48 rather than 24. Also idk if anyone has explained the whole 3 fingers to the mouth and then raise your arm gesture that we see amongst protesters but in the books it is an old funeral gesture from district 12 that is rarely used anymore. It means thanks, it means admiration and it means good bye to a loved one. We first see it used when Katniss volunteers, and the rest of Panem also sees this, thus it is, to them, forever associated with her act of rebellion by refusing to let her sister get reaped and instead volunteering.

Danielle

WOW!!! I haven't seen this movie since it released in theaters and I completely forgot about that twist ending. I loved seeing your facial expressions throughout this.

Danielle

I haven't seen Bridge to Terabithia in over a decade and I'm still not over the ending.

Soren

Thank you for this; I haven't read the books in years and forgot what the gesture meant

JT

This plot twist still blows my mind. I love this movie so much it’s crazy 😭. I love The Last two movies as well it’s amazing! I can’t wait for you to see those two!!

Vronnie

legit spat out some of my drink when he revealed that! classic!

Anastasia Kulikova

I forgot how good this movie was! Btw The Weeknd is on the soundtrack in the credits https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6ZJ6qHIv4M&ab_channel=TheWeeknd-Topic

Vronnie

i love that her talent is killing game makers and the establishment! alsobthe sineed he kept saying througout has me giggling. the reveal at the end with the twist was worth it all!!! such a great movie reaction

M

The shirt reveal was perfect lmao

Iva Morris

Philip Seymour Hoffman played Plutarch. He sadly passed during the filming of this franchise and Hollywood lost a truly great actor of legendary status.

ipsssen

this entire series is a really great look at propaganda, celebrity culture, politics, and power, and the way they can intersect - all in the context of this dystopian world. but its pretty easy to find parallels to our real world if you pay attention. so well done.

Lorena Oliveira

The last two movies are also good! It’s just that this one is a fan favorite lol

Talía Caraveo

Wow! You came in quick with this one!! Thank you!! Since I only saw them when they came out, I've forgotten how good they were! It makes me want to read the books again! And also from what I remember the last two are really good as well! Can't wait for your reactions to those!

Indre Duobaite

So I had a weird relationship with this franchise. I'm going to rant for a bit so it might be boring, sorry 😅 Basically I watched the first 2 movies right before my 14th birthday because back then my best friend from school was a fan of Hunger Games and invited me to go see the 3rd movie in the cinema. I remember really enjoying all the movies. The ones I watched at home and the next 2 I saw in the cinema. But the thing is, I just couldn't comprehend them that well, especially the last 2. I loved the game part, all the action, etc while the political side felt a bit boring for me since I couldn't appreciate it at that age. So since the release of the last movie, I hadn't actually rewatched any of the movies, except the 1st one for some reason. I've seen some reactions on youtube for the first 2 though. However, all this explanation is to basically say that WOW, I thought I didn't really care about this franchise. It always was special to me just because it felt like THE movie franchise of my teen generation (alongside The Maze Runner, etc.), but I didn't feel like I truly loved these movies. Now after watching the whole movie again with you, I actually truly understand the hype and I'm really excited to rewatch the next 2 movies since I barely remember like 20% of the plot of the 3rd movie and like 5% of the last one. And also the twist at the end of this movie? DAMN. I knew there was a twist and that she breaks the arena, ends the game, etc. But I forgot most of what's revealed afterwards. Also realised that I totally missed a lot of the undertones in this movie and tons of smaller details. This time I understood every plotline and of course, the political side was just as interesting, unlike back when I was 13/14. Anyways, I hope the next movie reaction will come soon enough because I'm so curious to remember again how this franchise ends!

caitlin

don't be discouraged by everyone calling this one the best! it's the most action-packed. the next two are phenomenal, they're just different. i remember reading this books in middle school and scrambling for the next one at the end of catching fire- it ends the exact same way. the films focus a little more on the "love triangle" than the books do, but at least in the books, you get katniss's thoughts about what each kiss means to her. the one with peeta on the beach was real.

caitlin

the books absolutely helped in radicalizing teenagers back when they were released. the "peacekeeepers" and what they represent, as well as the disgusting division of wealth between the capitol and the rest of the districts, planted a lot of seeds in my opinion (in a good way). i remember conversations with my friends in middle school about how angry it all made us. although its obviously dramatized and exaggerated in the world of the books, there is too much connection between the rebellion in the books and our current reality to be ignored. that alone totally makes these worth the watch/read!

Bangtan is life

I know you posted mamma Mia first but I’m gonna watch catching fire first because that’s where my heads at right now lol Also I LOVE the tshirt 😂🙌🏼 I’m with the others here, definitely check out little Manhattan and bridge to terabithia!!

Helena

catch me here, refreshing, waiting for the mockingjay reaction!!!!!!

Venita Morse

A couple of thing to note that you find out is the book that you don't get in the movie, is that with Finnick he has been a mentor of awhile now and the reason he acts the way he does is that he knows how to play the capitols game now. So he really shows that arrogant, sweet talker women's lady side but he is really a sweet guy and has been through a lot with the capital. Also, Joanna as also lost her family because of the capital. Whenever she has acted out the capital killed her family. That is why she tells Katniss that there is no one she loves anymore and that the capital can't hurt her. She has already gone through it. I hope when you are done with the movies you read the books. So you can learn more about the characters. They are so good. I read the books when they came out before the movies were made and loved them. This has been fun watching with you.

No spoilers, but just wanted to comment about why Mockingjay doesn’t get the love the second movie does. People seem to dislike what the author did with Katniss’ personality in the third book (3rd and 4th movie) and say it seems like she’s acting out of character, but the way she acts makes total sense to me. She’s barely grown and has suffered multiple massive traumas. She almost certainly has PTSD, and everyone around her is using her for their own agenda. I’d be a cranky bitch too. The second movie (and book) is my favorite, but Mockingjay is also fantastic.

Giorgia M

Gale is a flop, I don’t care to elaborate. However, I always found Katniss’s love kind of a grey area and she often doesn’t know how she feels herself. She’s more familiar with Gale and loves him in that way and it’s always been different with Peeta. She’s more concerned with practical things and safety/survival so she doesn’t let herself consider her feelings for too long.

Liam Mcfarlane

This is the best movie, not because the next two are bad but just because of how great the secrecy and plot twists are in this one. You're always unsure of who you can trust and the one person you thought you couldn't ends up being a massive ally

Giorgia M

Let the Mockingjay do it’s thing at the end !!!! Also Seneca Crane was the previous game maker who was murdered for letting both Katniss and Peeta win in the first games. Also, Peeta was the one that painted Rue on the floor I’m sure.

Jayde Ritchey

Great watch! Excited to see the next part with you :) I'll be on time, instead of three weeks behind lol

The fact that Michael is Team Peeta makes it worth every penny of being a peatreon
