In this incidence, Corden actually wasn’t too far off for Jungkook and Jimin. That’s why I say JK instead. I can never get his pronunciation right. In another show tho, he totally mangled Jimin’s name. I have heard some really bad pronunciations of poor JK’s name. Jin released Abyss on SoundCloud for his birthday a couple of years ago and he said he was doubting himself after all the accolades the group was getting and asking himself, do I deserve this… I absolutely love the emotions in this song, I think it may be my favorite Jin song, after the Astronaut. The flinch game… did you notice how JK hid behind RM? He is so adorable! BTS covers are so very good! My favorite is Coldplay’s Fix You. Did you see JK’s performance of Dreamers for FIFA WC? I’m so proud of him at such a world-wide event and he slayed! Thank you!

As much as I am not a fan of James Corden (because let’s face it, the man is a total tool), he was actually pretty accurate on the pronunciation of their names. Jungkook is 정국 in Hangul, and an alternative romanization of his name is Jeongguk. The first “k” in “kook” is more of a g/k sound, not a hard k. The second k is more “k” than “g”, but is still not the hard “k” that we tend to use. Not sure where the “ch” sound at the beginning came from the first time James said his name though. Jimin (지민) is more of an “ee” sound than an “eu” sound. I think they’re both pretty used to the Americanized pronunciations when they are in the US at this point, and Jungkook uses JK a lot. If you ever end up watching their shows like In The Soop or Run BTS you will see more of how easily Hobi is startled. Poor man can’t catch a break haha.

The Sting part of I'll Be Missing You is the instrumental. Puff Daddy used Stings's song "Every Breath You Take" and put mostly his own lyrics over it. Suga and jhope both wrote their own versus (and RM changed the first one a little) to fit the song to go with missing people during the pandemic, rather than missing someone who had passed. I've appreciated all the Jin appreciation you've had this month! His voice really is angelic! I also absolutely love how they do the harmonies in I'll Be Missing You, really showing off Jimin and Jin's upper ranges, and JK's and V's grounding vocals. I think Corden probably swings the pendulum a little too far in the other direction trying to pronounce their names. He makes them a little TOO different than English pronunciation, where in reality the pronunciation is somewhere in between.

Puff Daddy's I'll Be Missing You heavily sampled the song Every Breath You Take—by the English band Police. Sting is the vocalist of Police and wrote the song. The thing is, permission was not granted to Diddy for use of the sample, and Sting sued, so he continues to receive 100% of the song royalties. So whenever people cover or use the song to this day, they have to credit Sting.

Till this day, Jimmy Fallon still calls Jungkook as “jung-koo” lol. But I choose Jimmy Fallon over James Corden any day.

You aren't going to want to hear this but Corden's Jungkook pronunciation was pretty good. haha. The romanization for his name is usually Jeongguk. The J sounds like something between J and CH in English and the same Korean character is used to capture both the English K & G sounds (kook/gguk) so it's somewhere between the two too. And the last k/g is kind of swallowed. Like there's no aspirate sound on it, it's just kind of choked off enough to close the vowel sound without a hard k/g sound. Anyway, as pompous and annoying as Corden can get, he's pretty close on Jungkook. (Though I think you'll find most westerners stick to Jungkook mostly anyway.)

Please please please dive into the NF journey at some point!! Admittedly it’s a large task as he has a lot of songs and the order in which you follow it in is SO important as it makes much more sense and he calls back a lot to previous songs but it’s genuinely a masterpiece. You can find the “NF journey” order online or id be happy to send it to you. Obviously only do it if/ when you have the time and feel like it but judging by your reaction to this I’m 100% sure you’d find it amazingly powerful

That Lawrence video gives me full body chills every time I watch it. Her vocals are insane. And the choir vocals are amazing. You get the sense they’re all having a ton of fun. Lawrence has a great album out called Hotel TV, which includes a cover of NSYNC’s “It’s gonna be me” (speaking of boy bands lol). You should react to it sometime!

I knew you were going to like Little Simz, cuz I don't think it's possible not to. I would say she's one of the greatest of all time but I'm definitely not an rap expert. She's just got such good flow and her albums are insane. Grey Area and Sometime I Might Be Introvert are her newest/most popular and they're both nearly perfect. Also you were dead on for the scene in Venom 2. It's a gay club and she's actually featured in the movie performing in the club. This song came out before the first Venom and her fans got mad when Eminem's worse "Venom" song was featured in the movie. So Andy Serkis made a point to feature her and the song in the second one. Just some fun facts!

I love Jin's solo songs so much, they just feel different to me. They always make me emotional💜 Yes I'm not a fan of Corden, but I still enjoy the videos with BTS. I love our guys! I loooooove their cover of I'll Be Missing You, they did a beautiful job and I love how they made their version about what was happening in the world today, how people can't see loved ones because of the pandemic. I can't remember if you've seen their cover of Coldplay's song Fix You, if not I hope you can check it out sometime. It made me cry when I first watched them perform it

I’ll be missing you is actually a remake of the sting song Every step you take (I’ll be watching you), so the melody, instrumental and some lyrics are the same. So since BTS wrote some of their own (pandemic related) lyrics, this could be classed as a remake of a remake? All 3 songs are absolutely beautiful, and I’m so glad they decided to sing this!

Actually, the way james pronounced Jungkook is similar to how a Korean would pronounce it. Korean language doesn’t have a strong J sound.. the letter that almost represents the J sound is in between CH and J.. sounds more of a soft CH sound like Chungukk or Chimin but not an outright CH. A soft in between. But year, we don’t like James

Btw, the way James pronounced Jimin's name is more correct and closer to the korean way of doing it. Because in korean the "j" is not really a "j" and and americans often pronounce "i"s like "e" but it should be more like "Jee-meen".

it's cause the "j" (ㅈ) in korean has a slight ch sound to it. it's more of a blend between ch/j, where the related character ㅊ takes on a more aspirate ch sound. so he was actually pretty close to the actual pronunciation

Actually the way corden pronounced their name was really good, a lot closer to the way you pronounce their names in Korean, junguk (k has a more g sound avtually) and ji-min is more accurate than the way most Americans tend to call their names

2022-12-27 17:24:54 coming back here to say that i probably know you're aware of the fact that namjoon's releasing his debut album on december 2nd (since his first two releases are mixtapes), but if you're going to react to it it would probably be very insightful and rewarding to at least react to mono first! i know you checked out uhgood a while ago and liked it, but obviously if you don't have time or feel like you want to go into indigo blind you don't have to react to the full mono album before the release :) i just feel like it could be nice to see his growth going from one "album" to the other, and i know you would love the songs and lyrics in mono too (doolset as i know you use is a great help for the correct lyrics). do what you feel like is right but i think i speak for many others as well when i say that a mono reaction sometime in the future is something we're definitely looking forward to &lt;3

I was just about to come say this too! I love when the tannies say each other’s names with American accents, it cracks me up. I swear James used to have an army working for him. There was so much detail that you could tell they really looked into them but somewhere along the line I think whoever was giving him all that information left the saw because it isn’t quite like that anymore.
