Dean calling Sam a bitch was WAY outta line. He literally went behind Sam's back, murdered his friend, and then lied about it for weeks. Then he shows up in the diner, plops his ass across from Sam who's already said that he is so upset he can't talk to Dean right now, then Dean starts babbling the case to him. Sam is even big enough to agree to work the case like professionals, but doesn't want to do the whole bro-love thing because he's still understandably pissed at Dean. And for that, Dean says he's acting like a bitch?? Like dude, you're waving your arms at the bull, acting all high and mighty and not giving Sam the least bit of empathy or compassion or even EXPLAINATION for what you did, and Sam just doesn't want to joke around with you like nothing happened and so he's a bitch?? For me, that just really added to the chain of mistakes Dean makes (starting with Amy's murder) that make him a very unlikeable character. Including the way he talked to the waiter, who gives him a compliment and he responds by threatening to break the guys face. Like, dude what the fuck?? And at the end for Sam to just be like "hey, man you're right, I'm totally being a bitch, let's pretend nothing happened, like you won't get right back up on your high horse and lie to me the next time you feel it's inconvenient for you to explain yourself or include me in your decisions of who gets to live and who gets to die." Blech.

Glad you like the episode. I enjoy it, especially the affirmating waiter who irritates Dean, Ellen speaking to Dean from the grave, and the arguments between Sam and Dean. Plus the girl, Melanie, would have been super cute couple with Dean, but alas on to the next town. Will be interesting to see what other comments you get. It is in the bottom half of ratings for this season on IMDb.

man remember when sam had psychic powers. that they completely abandoned. wouldve been a cool ep to have them come back, or even mentioned! sigh oh well

HBO made a documentary in the late oughts or early 2010s called “No One Ever Dies In Lily Dale.” Real place! Psychic/medium town!

Melanie is my second-favorite brief attraction for Dean. She’s so likeable!
