For real this is one of my fave episodes. The character work and horror aspects make it. To be honest, season 4 is just the best season for me.

Jordan Watton

My first ever episode of Who back when it aired in 2008, and has still remained one of the best! Glad you guys enjoyed it so much

This is arguably the best episode of the Davies era, arguably of the whole of nu-who, and even arguably of the entire series. Also it is a great introductory episode for a newcomer, even if it sets an incredibly high bar. From what I’ve heard this also was one Davies had in his back pocket for a while but held off on because of just how out there it was, but since this was his last season he decided to try it. Honestly wish he’d done more stuff like this in his era. Still, this whole back half of series 4 is a big string of hits for different reasons, and I definitely think it encapsulates the best elements of this initial era of the new show. The specials... not so much for me, but after that it’ll be interesting to see how Greg and John feel once we get into the next doctor, and those after. Just from a production standpoint each jump is such a large one, and one thing I appreciate is y’all’s experience and understanding of the actual process leading to better appreciation and acknowledgment of the efforts taken by the crew.

This episode is hard for me to watch, it's just so upsetting. It is definitely one of the best, but I can't watch it much. Could have been the fighting.

Laura Moore

This is one of the first episodes of Who I ever watched and it so creepy and weird and I had no idea who Donna or Rose were and nothing was solved at the end. It was really almost disturbing. This epsode is still scary to me. But it got me hooked on the acting and the commentary on humanity. Plus the sci-fi that’s story driven. Also shows that you don’t even need CGI if you’re a good storyteller. Like you never ever see the mister in this and it all takes place in one room. And yet it’s one of the scariest episodes

Maggie

One of my favorite Who episodes ever.

Tania R

This is one of the best episodes ever of Doctor Who. It's hard to top. Lesley Sharp who plays Sky is a very well known British actress. She stars in her own series called Scott & Bailey. The actor who played Jethro is internationally known for his role as Merlin in the BBCs Merlin ( you guys should check that out too)!

Bruce Simmons

What i especially love about this episode is that it has the tenth doctor at his most vulnerable. This time, he can't just have an epic speech about how he is the hero and he's gonna save everyone ala voyage of the damned. To us, the audience, these people's reaction is frustrating because we know that the doctor is a very knowledgeable person who is only trying to help, but to them he's a weird stranger who wants to take control of the situation

Amber Dustman

Merlin is fully one of my favorite shows ever! And yes, I agree they need to watch it.

Definitely a brilliant episode. One of the many slam dunks of Season 4. My very favourite is the two parter preceding this, but no doubt this one is superb. Maybe what stops me liking it 100%, and although I know it is also part of what makes this episode stand out, the Doctor does not save the day. It is the unnamed hostess who gives up her life, so it's also a tragedy. But perhaps he was able to give her enough info to be able to work it out. I think it also highlights, yet again, the difference between the Doctor and humans. Even though the creature seems frightning, the Doctor is the only one who gives a shit about it. He's trying to help it, trying to find a way for it to live without it harming anyone. His first instinct is not just to destroy it. He is concerned with all life, not just humans. By contrast, the humans are all just thinking of themselves. And I wonder if Jethro got the part in Merlin on the back of this performance? Merlin started shortly after this episode, and it would have given him a lot of visibility in the UK.
