It'd take me forever to come up with just 5. For some reason I kept thinking old school watching the video so I came up with Kim Novak's Madeline/Judy from Vertigo and Bogart but I couldn't decide from Casablanca, High Sierra, Maltese Falcon, or African Queen, (which he did win an Oscar). Alec Guiness in Bridge on the River Kwai is another. Great question.

Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck/Joker Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman in American Psycho Al Pacino as Tony Montana in Scarface Gary Oldman as Stansfield in Leon Edward Norton as Derek in American History X Hard to list only five

Impossible to pick 5 without cheating, so I'll cheat! Emma Thompson in Love Actually and Much Ado About Nothing Harrison Ford in Raiders (it might not be a serious 'acting' role, but there's a reason Ford became a megastar and it's not just his looks - there are better looking people out there) Michael Cain in Educating Rita (with a special prize for his appearance in Miss Congeniality) Juliet Stevenson and Alan Rickman for Truly, Madly, Deeply Meryl Streep for everything she's ever been in. Of course, hundreds of brilliant performances left out there. But can I also give an honourable mention to Adam Driver. The films might be controversial, but I think he was absolutely bloody brilliant. Oh, and Kenneth Branagh for Much Ado. And Johnny Depp and Leo Di Caprio in What's Eating Gilbert Grape. And..... Continuing to cheat... remembered Marlon Brando in Streetcar and Heath Ledger for Brokeback and Dark Knight

John! Jake Gyllenhaal in PRISONERS, directed by Denis Villeneuve < Jake Gyllenhaal in ENEMY, directed by Denis Villeneuve!!! GET ON THIS! 1. Natalie Portman in GARDEN STATE, 2. Tom Hardy in LOCKE, 3. Joaquin Phoenix in THE MASTER, 4. Susan Sarandon in THELMA AND LOUISE, and 5. Leonardo DiCaprio in THE DEPARTED. These are in no order, and I could come up with probably 20 top five fave performances, because I’m old and have seen everything.

Thanks guys, some good picks. I think Bryan Cranston as Walter White is one of the great Performances, I also want to give a shot out to Natalie Portman in Black Swan, I named my daughter after Natalie Portman.

Always hard to narrow down, right? Some great performances here, either way!! You can just rank Kim, 3 Bogeys, and Alec Guinness for the time-being... that way you only gotta narrow 1 Bogey down!

Great picks here!! Crazy to think Patrick Bateman was almost DiCaprio. And I'll never forget the first time I saw Leon back in school. SUCH a good movie. And hear, hear to Norton as well! Good job narrowing it down haha, 'tis not easy!!

Haha it's all good. 5 is a daunting narrow-down 😅but you've got some great picks here, regardless! Even just with the actors, alone. Emma Thompson breaks my heart in Love, Actually & that's a good point re: Harrison Ford! He's just got so much presence, he oozes cool & adventure as Indie without even trying. Aaand now I'm gonna have to add Educating Rita & Truly, Madly, Deeply to my ever-growing list to check out haha. Digging your honorable mentions too haha. Perhaps someday you're gonna have to start programming film nights or somethin'!
