This was really good, reminds me of Skyfall at some parts. Great lyrics even though, like you guys said, i don't think they will have much to do with the actual movie. Billie's music is so far from what i usually listen to but for some reason her songs just hit me.

My favorite Bond song is The World is Not Enough by Garbage. (Skyfall by Adele is pretty iconic and probably my second fav.) I love Sam Smith usually but Writing's on the Wall was super forgettable so I'd rate that one as just ok. I actually really like Die Another Day as a song on its own but it just doesn't feel like a Bond song so I'll rate it as worst even tho it isn't bad.

Right?? Was very curious as to what sort of approach this would end up taking & how it might compliment vs. expand what we’ve already heard from her. Her album definitely goes further than Bad Guy territory & hopefully this continues that trajectory!

Glad you liked it!! I often wonder, when hearing these, how much of the script/story/themes the artists are privy to before embarking on these songs or if it’s more about sticking to the general milieu of James Bond.. 🤔 either way, though, both sound & subject matter seem to fit nicely! And that’s pretty cool that she’s managed to grab your ear that way. Perhaps it’s something in the writing & the intimate, super-close way in which she tends to sing?

Oooh, nice pick! Been ages since I’ve heard that one, actually listening to it as I’m responding here haha. Gotta love that Shirley Manson!! I sorta remember people generally being lukewarm on the Sam Smith one, sadly. I think I’ve only heard it the once up until now 😮 And glad Die Another Day isn’t without some charm haha. It’d be fun to do a ranking of the bond themes.. just as songs on their own.. haha. See what holds up best without needing to complement a movie 🤔
