Another great episode/reaction. (Like Greg's beanie cap too)

Since this is the most recent episode of a brand new series, there's not really any spoilers for the series, just conjecture, and I wanted to comment on a couple of things. Mando's people seem to be a "race" where future generations are children from other races that are adopted and raised as Mandalors. For a people whose entire future is based on orphaned or abandoned children of other races, it is very likely that there is absolutely nothing more important to them than a child, particularly one without a guardian. I think that maybe the reason the other Mandalor called our hero a coward was because he traded the child for the steel, knowing that the child was probably going to be killed by the agents of the Empire that he'd given the child to. I think that's also why nearly all of the Mandalors came to his rescue, because he AND a child were in danger and he was willing to die to protect the child. They were willing to abandon both their secrecy and their home for the sake of a threatened child. Perhaps that might be a bit of a stretch, but, speaking as an orphan, adults who were orphaned tend to share a pretty strong bond because of similar experiences and this is an entire race of rescued orphans. To my thinking, it would be almost impossible for them to just stand by while one of their own was in trouble, protecting a child. On a side note, I also think that maybe the reason that they are covered head to toe and never remove their helmets is because of the fact that they are actually from different races, and not just one, specific race. Refusing to remove their helmets hides their differences and presents everyone, including the Mandalors themselves, with a similar appearance. It would help to unify them as a people. Just my thoughts on what we've seen so far.

Absolutely loving this show so far. Can't wait for Fridays!! Other cool thing about this episode, is that Debra Chow is now the first woman to ever direct a live-action Star Wars adventure!

You're not too far off Jessica. In what is now "legends", being a Mandalorian is not about being a certain race or species, but rather a way of life ("This is the way"). The Mandalorians follow a code of honor called the "Resol'ner", or translated, The Six Actions. These 6 "rules" are: Wearing armor; Speaking the language; Defending yourself and your family; Raising your children as Mandalorians; Contributing to the clan's welfare; When called upon by the Mand'alor (or Mandalor, is the Leader of all clans), rallying to his cause. - Mandalorians have a saying that means "Family is more than blood", meaning if you have been excepted into a Mandalorian clan, then it doesn't matter your relationship is to others, you ARE family to ALL Mandalorians! Which leads me to "foundlings". They are children whom have been orphaned as a result of a battle (usually involving at least 1 Mandalorian) and are adopted into a clan. They are taught the code, the language, and trained in many forms of combat and weapons. Many Republic Clones were excepted as Mandalorians during and after the clone wars, because Jango Fett had hired other Mandalorians to train the clones during development; and even a couple of jedi who had chosen to leave the Jedi order, were excepted after being vouched for by some of those said clones. - I HIGHLY recommend that anyone with a interest in getting a strong knowledge on Mandalorian culture, is to read (or audio book) the "Republic Commander" Series by Karen Traviss. It's absolutely my favorite Star Wars book series of all time.

Also, as a final note, I'm not sure how they will fully handle it in the show, but in the EU(Legends), Mandalorians never take off their helmets in the company of non-Mandalorians. typical the only time is when among their own clan. But, as seen in the Clone Wars and Rebels cartoons (Still cannon under Disney), Mandalorians have removed their helmets. So it may be that Jon Favreau is trying to implement a style with the Mandalorian ways, more akin to what's in Legends.
