an interesting bit of forshadowing in the pilot episode and skye's drive. she says she has to go back to the van in the alley to decrypt it in that episode showing that it is location based. Then they bring that back this episode. maria does know fury is alive. she is with him in winter soldier after his "death" only she and coulson knows he's still alive but noone else on the team. Now before you started this show i mentioned that the early episodes were slower but have a purpose and was building to something. Building that family dynamic makes it so much worse when it all comes crashing down this episode for us the audience and for the characters. this is why i never recommend people skip episodes because you need that connection to care about whats happening now. You feel as betrayed as them and you know how they are feeling. You’ve been there watching them build that trust that ward just destroyed. But it wasn’t personal.... well it sure felt that way lol This show perfectly captures how cap,Coulson and the agents in shield would be feeling and lets us feel it too. you mentioned the 7th episode with fitz and ward and i'm glad you did because it ties into next episode too.

I just want to point out Ian DeCaestecker's performance in this episode. Fitz breaking down was heartbreaking and this was one of the first glimpses into the great dramatic acting Ian can do.
