This Sylvie's Technique Vlog is shot at a time when most of us are experiencing "social distancing," "self isolating," or "shelter in place," depending on how it's called. But we're at home, quarantined to varying degrees, and largely locked out of our gyms. This technique vlog is perfect for these circumstances because it requires no equipment, no instruction, no sweat, no partners, and practically speaking no space at all. You can do this from bed. You can do this while brushing your teeth. You can even do this while pining for the people and equipment you had access to in your gym communities - you can use that feeling to hone this skill. And we can all get back to our gyms having improved our ability to learn, pick up techniques, and prepare ourselves for training, fights, or whatever else.

If you've even just Googled "Mental Training," you've seen the strong and recurring advice to use visualization as a tool for fight preparation, calming yourself, etc. This is excellent advice and an incredibly good tool to have in order to improve both how you learn a technique and how you'll use it when "live" in a fight or training. Personally, I thought it sounded easy. I have a very good imagination and photographic memory. But I found it incredibly hard to just up and visualize an entire round, let alone work my way through a whole fight in my brain. But I figured out a way to build this skill, from "I can't do this," to "I can never stop getting better at this." This technique vlog is how to start from absolutely nothing, and how to add in elements in order to keep growing and improving in this skill, as well as why it's so important. Since we're all locked up in our rooms, this is the perfect time to get really good at this. Struggle now so that you're already comfortable by the time you're needing to use it for "real" training and fights. But use how much we're all missing our gyms to get this "mind gym" training in now.

I reference "The Inner Game of Tennis," which you can get on Kindle.

While you're reading it you can check out the videos of an Inner Game of Tennis (go here to see that >>>) reading group we had, discussing chapter by chapter. Patrons and I read through this fantastic short book and talked about chapters each video conference session. You can read through it with us.

for some reason this was crazy to realize. I've actually done bits of visualization here and there but completely involuntarily, simply because at the specific time i was too much into my training. the fact i can fight everyday in my head is somewhat relaxing

When you visualize yourself in action, do you view it in the first person or the third person? Respect to you both.
