People asked me to react to this film after watching Society of the Snow because the director, J.A. Bayona, directed both movies. I knew I was in for a rough, emotional ride but I didn't expect to sob my whole way through the movie. From the 20 minute mark, I was a goner. This film was harrowing, emotional, terrifying, jaw-dropping, inspiring and did I already say, EMOTIONAL? I've never cried so hard at a film before in my life, it was ruthless. Tears upon tears upon tears. Wow, I adored it but I don't think I'll ever watch it again. It crushed me.

this film is so heartbreaking. and a lot of the extras were actual survivors of the tsunami, they brought them in to be a part of the film.

my nana was in the maldives, luckily she was up high and the maldives waves didn’t hit above 4 meters- i cannot imagine how south asia felt on that day watching their homes be swept away
