recently, I watched this video by Heikala in which they recommended sketching with pen instead of pencil and eraser. this is something that I'm quite comfortable with traditionally (I love sketching with Muji and ballpoint pens), but digitally I'm still used to using layers and pencil brushes to sketch. it was awkward at first, but it has definitely grown on me the more I've tried it! the "permanence" of the medium was intimidating at first, but with time I came to appreciate the strength of my new lines. I find that a brush with minimum taper and full opacity works best to replicate the feeling of using a gel roller pen. I've definitely noticed it improving my line confidence. taking that slight buffer to think about where my next line will go more actively engages me in the process of drawing intentionally. I think it's fun and recommend trying it out if line confidence is something you've been wanting to practice!
