hello dear patrons! (*¯︶¯*)
making art has felt really fun lately and I just want to acknowledge that plainly!
1 - after making this month's wallpaper, I felt curious about trying out other limited color palettes. I found a list of palettes on pinterest made by qrowpilled and challenged myself to use color palettes I'd never come up with on my own. I always had a hunch that colors strongly influence the way I feel, the things I make and doing this challenge confirmed that suspicion. using color combos that I'm not drawn to makes the process of creating feel clunky and awkward. ideas don't jump out at me in the same way they do when I'm using colors I love. it's so cool that colors can affect our emotions and can be used to convey different meanings in art! doing this exercise was a lot of fun, I recommend trying it out yourself!
2 - bou from antic cafe. I was OBSESSED with his outfits when I was in middle school. drawing his looks from back in the day was a great reminder of where my current fashion sensibilities come from. my obsession with certain newjeans styling is strongly reminiscent of a lot of jrock/visual kei looks from the early 2000s that I grew up with. peep the beanie with holes for pigtails!! direct influence dare I say! it's so fun making these connections. ^.^
3 - some city girl doodles using colors I love. making this felt so soothing in comparison to the random color palettes exercise. xD
4 - azula from avatar the last airbender. much to unpack from her character arc. watching her and zuko's final battle gives me chills every time.
5 - random pose practice. sketching poses is one of my favorite ways to stay loose with my lines. I like to prioritize gesture and movement, so I'm always searching for the strongest way to convey the through line in any given pose.
