hello lovely patrons! ∑d(°∀°d)

it's time for a new tutorial! I got a spark of inspiration from fellow patron arina who recently asked in the patron chat:

I thought it was a great question, since I'm often curious about how other artists manage their layers while working. I put together a tutorial of how I generally approach digital painting with a focus on how I order my layers. the ordering itself is fairly straightforward, but it plays a vital part in how my paintings turn out! each step builds on the next, so effective layer order helps me keep things organized. this way I can focus on the task at hand instead of constantly backtracking and getting confused.

to watch how all of this looks like in action and how I do my paintover, check out the speedpaint for this piece here.  🌟

I hope this is helpful! ^_^ maybe you can take something new and try it out in your own painting process. if you have any other requests for tutorials or questions about the process, please comment below so I know what y'all are interested in seeing!

hope you have a good day!

didn’t have the chance to look at patreon for the past few days, but thank you so much for taking my suggestion and creating this 💞💞 i’ve always struggled to organise a workflow and maintain a consistent painting process, and most artists don’t really talk about their layers, so this is supeerrrr helpful 🥺💖 i’ll try this out as soon as i can!!

ye thanks for the suggestion, i hope it's helpful! :] it's true, a lot of artists share speedpaints, but they don't usually include what's going on with the layers. ultimately, try out different methods and find what works best for you. ^^

That you so much for this post. I’m trying to get more accustomed to drawing with Procreate on my iPad, and trying to find a good flow for drawing on it. 💕

i'm glad it can help! :] it always takes time to get used to drawing with a new medium (i still feel like i'm getting used to procreate even tho i've used it for years xD), just keep trying stuff. :D
