hello lovely patrons! ˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗

welcome to those who have recently joined for the physical rewards! ✨\(^▽^)/✨ to pick up where we left off, I'm sharing the process videos of both pieces. the postcard went through a lot of different phases before it ended up where it is now. I had actually made an entire piece before this one, but ended up nixing it, because I wasn't satisfied with the overall feeling. in the video you can even see that I started making yet another sketch that I didn't end up using. I used to be a lot more hesitant to start over like this, feeling overly precious about what I made and afraid of the sunk cost. but over time I've started to look at it differently. art is never "finished" and everything just builds on each other. in a way, making that first piece led me to making the final postcard that I'm so happy with now. we have no way of knowing where each drawing will lead us, it's helpful to keep an open mind. ✨

below: the first postcard I finished that I ended up putting aside. maybe I'll revisit it in the future and make something new out of it. maybe not. every drawing is a jumping off point for something else, the effort is never truly wasted.

Love that there is still texture there, having that sketch look or like, the look as if drawn on paper just feels better than the totally things c: I saw a tweet of yours from like a few years back, what procreate brushes did you end up using for this? 🥺

I like art that retains some texture, too! I think it looks interesting and pleasing. ^^ these days, I mostly use the uncrtive sketch brush and 1313 and sketch 5 2666 from yuming li's photoshop brush pack!
