Painting a hero's portrait (Patreon)

I wanted to share with you the final three pieces in my mini series of Overwatch ladies in DRAMATIC LIGHTING aka Baroque-inspired portraits. I enjoyed working in this style because I got to explore my skills surrounding digital painting and really test the limits and boundaries of my knowledge. I still have a great deal to learn, but it was a good exercise nonetheless! If ever in need of dramatic lighting you can follow this rule of thumb: ONE intense light source + rest of piece in shadow. ;D

I hope these portraits capture the strength and and capability that these women represent! I know for me that the representation and visibility that Overwatch celebrates is a big reason for my interest the video game. Don't get me wrong, it's incredibly fun and is great for that standalone reason. But what Overwatch does well is give its characters, especially its women, stories and backgrounds that make them intricate, real, and human. I want to give back and do that sentiment justice as many times as I can.
