Hello everyone!

Happy Tuesday! Need some motivation? That thing you really want to do and have been wanting to do it for a long time? No more waiting, now is the time. Let's create cool things this week and kick any sort of block in the butt!

I wanted to share with you the full piece that I submitted for QPop's Sweet Pink show . If you're interested in viewing the full show and buying prints of this piece, click on that link and it'll take you to a magical land of all things sweet and pink! :D

The piece I created is called La Dolce Vita. I drew a lot of inspiration from '50s fashion and imagery because I love the style of vintage illustration. It's something I want to explore more and got a taste to try out with this piece. This is also the first time I've fully drawn and rendered a car and...I liked it a lot more than I thought I would! Expect to see more cars/vehicles in my future work. ;D

I've never drawn a full piece with such a heavy hand of pink and was worried I wouldn't be able to make anything stand out. The main way I broke up the colors and prevented it from looking like a pink blob was using contrast (shadows and highlights) to differentiate between the different shades of pink. If you ever feel like your work is looking too uniform, try implementing some contrast and playing with values. A good way to check this when working on digital art is by completely turning down the saturation, so that everything is black/white/grey, and look for areas that you can darken or lighten to increase contract. It's an extra step, but it's definitely worth it! :D

Hope you like the piece and thank you as always for your support and being a part of my work! You are all amazing! <3

Love,

Vicki
