Hello everyone!

Hope your Monday has been a good one! Continuing the Overwatch Baroque series, I've got some more completed pieces to show you! It's been seriously fun working on these and reminds me that digital painting will always have a soft spot in my heart. I learned how to make digital art on painting and cell-shading techniques and I think this series is really allowing me to revisit those techniques with a larger skill set. Seeing improvement in your work is always interesting! :D

I've had my fair-share of run-ins with video game art (I hail from the early days of Deviantart, I've seen some things) and a lot of it fails to interest me. I'm talking specifically about artwork that features females, whether or not their body supports it, with gargantuan boobs and butts. It's run of the mill hypersexualization and I'm sure that if you search up 'X female character name' in google images you will find at least ONE version of her with T and A of ungodly proportions. It's trite, ridiculous, and quite frankly disgusting.  I won't get into the sexist and misogynistic undercurrents of all this. Basically I want to make art of these characters that showcases their character, strength, and personality.

I've really enjoyed focusing on these ladies' faces and seeing how I could best convey their traits through facial expressions and subtle differences in posing. I've also been playing around with lighting effects to fully maximize contrast and drama. I know color dodge is a taboo tool to use, but give it a try! You may find that you can achieve some pretty cool lighting effects! ;D

Just three more ladies to go and we'll be wrapping up this series! Thank you all so much for your support and I hope you have a great day/night/whatever time it is where you are! <3

Love,

Vicki
