Greetings Patrons,

I hope you are all weathering things and doing as well as can be expected. It's tough going, I know, and I feel very (very) fortunate that I can lean on my work at this time.

As I started on this track I realized that, once again, I was injecting a bit of wishful thinking into my work. This is a musical piece that was supposed to imply a sense of peace and positivity, but there's an ominous element as well. I try not to get too self analytical about these things but in a world of self isolation, where we depend more than ever on technology to help us through, it's hard not to telegraph some of that emotion.

Biodome is a kind of peaceful getaway that isn't entirely real. I thought about that ship in Battlestar Galactica, the one with the beautiful gardens, where you could pretend for a second, that you weren't in space. I'm pretty sure if you listened closely enough, you'd hear and feel the engines beneath your feet, even while the birds sang overhead.

I've included a music only version here for Patreon patrons.

Thank you, as always, for your continuing support.

Stay well,

Tim

This is a cool. I have a big idea but just throwing it out there. Create an “Emotion Soundpad”. The soundpad would have pieces of music based on emotional themes: Fear, Suspicion/Tense, Mystery, Safe, Regular Action, Epic Action, Death, Love/Caring, Sadness..Environment sounds could be pulled on top from other sound pads. (Update: I am thinking of single loopable pieces of music called Safe, Sadness...)

Thks Tim!! This is great!! In my game tonight, my players are supposed to enter a kind of Biodome. What a coincidence!!

I agree with the Emotion Soundpad, however that might be implemented (whether literal or more subtle). As many RPGs increasingly emphasize narrative and dramatic scenes, moments, beats, it'd be a beautiful thing to lay sound underneath or over the top. (And music arguably conveys emotion more strongly than any other medium--visuals and words included.)

Thanks again. These get used a lot in our games, you do great work.

I like the siren-like building voices in the music track.
