I finally got around to commissioning an artist to help me with the cover. Here it is, thanks to the talented Miha Brumec. Much better than my MSPaint version, no?

Thanks Miha!

That going to be a location in the story?

That looks so good!

I absolutely LOVE it. i'll be honest, i didn't even understand the first MSPaint one, but the story + words were so good i simply ignored it and considered it coverless, well... until now :)

It looks amazing, and spooky at the same time. I don't know if I should be more afraid of the serpent lurking on the cave or the hooded man on the surface who looks so ominous.

I hope the glowy eyes belong to a giant bunny.

This art looks gorgeous, but my OCD is getting me wily over the stairs, and also the scale of things not being consistent throughout the picture. Regardless, massive upgrade, kudos. Been liking and getting into this story more in the last 10-20 chaps than I fell for it in the beginning. Really shows you've been making great progress as an author, imo

Is that glowing eye thing a teaser for what's in the sewers still

I have a problem wuth linking the art to the story so far.

Looking great man!

I liked the sense of darkness and oppression the prior one invoked, even though it was simple. Not sure how I feel about this one yet. Has some nice detail and looks nice though.

I dunno, while this one isn't as overtly dark or oppressive, I find that the image has it's own amount of hidden depths, in that cave below the city, it looks like there's a massive beast. If I'm not seeing wrong, there's the glint of malevolent red eyes peeking out from behind the giant rock.

Hey what's that large creature in the underground?

John

It looks really nice, and it's definitely better than the last one, but like another person pointed out, I'm having trouble connecting it to the story. The last one was cold and plain, consisting of simple, hard angles and squares. It's the type of thing I might expect a computer to draw... or a system. Kind of fit that a story about blue boxes and a giant computer-like system had a cover-art like that. Still, this is definitely a better looking, but this is a story in large parts about numbers and levelling etc., so I feel like maybe that should be represented in some way by the cover art, maybe

On Royal Road, it's very hard to see the dark underground section.

It only took most of a year, but the cover has grown on me and works pretty well for the story lol

btw, I really like the cover art, in case I hadn't said so before.

Gives me proper Diablo 1 vibes. :)
