still trying to figure out how to get good results on a long dress that is tight around the feet. so, daz has this contraction-expansion ratio option which is really great. it kinda works like an elastic feature. so for skirts or very tight lingerie it will work great. i can definitely see the usefulness for it.

unfortunately this is will not really work for a long dress where we want the lowest part of the dress to be around ground level. the way the contraction-expansion ratio works is, it shrinks a polygon in all directions, so it tightens up the dress, but also shortens it at the same time.

I'm sure you've tried, but wouldn't it work if it is longer? Maybe expand it outwards at the bottom if clipping with the ground could be an issue during the simulation.

yeah, i tried that, but then things get entangled real fast, especially if you have some heels in the scene as well
