Hi Moon, Sun, Star and Superstar tiers + long-time patrons! Thanks for being here <3

Next week we'll likely talk about Law & Disorder, but for now, let's talk about RPO!

First: Bug Fixes talk
&
Second: Feature Addition talk + poll.

*************

RPO BUG FIXES DONE AND TO COME OUT SOON:

TO-BE-RELEASED BUG FIXES:
- throw up interaction will now appear properly again
- babies will transfer household properly again
- it'll be easier to have mod interactions show properly for Sims pre-existing update and fresh out of CAS
- other stuff I already forgot about

TO-BE-RELEASED CHANGES:
- Visual and functional changes to some menus for better navigation
- the turn-ons and turn-offs have left M16 to instead live in their own space; I present to you:

*********************

M17: Turn-Ons & Turn-Offs

The Turn-Ons & Turn Offs Introduced in M16 are finally getting their gameplay activated!

This is meant as a 'compatibility' system geared towards romance. Its style is inspired by Sims 2.

For a universal non-romantic system, I have my First Impressions mod.
The way those two work together is that if you have both, if the sim talked to could not be a potential romantic partner, First Impressions system plays, and if the sim could be a potential partner, the Turn ons / turn off system of RPO M15 plays. (This is determined by orientation and age, as well as whether the turn on / off system is enabled or not).

First off, you will notice that compared to the currently released version, I have changed the icons to make it more precise / immersive:

The Navigability of those interactions has also been improved. The windows repeat and are equipped with a back button.

MATCHING

For personality, the system looks at traits, preferences, skill levels, stats, etc (basically everything and anything that would make sense) to figure how matching or not the Sim's preferences are to the other sim's character.

For style, the system looks at physique, stats, and elements such as Occult type, (all inspired from Sims 2).

These have been in the mod and accessible to players for a month cosmetically now, they were just not functional yet, but now they are.

This mod will remain basic on the appearance side, because a. it's emulating sims 2 and b. if you want more appearance stuff you can download a Turbodriver mod for it.
And if you use a physical attraction system from a Turbodriver mod, the appearance side of my system
will automatically be disabled.

Weight of preferences: PERSONALITY weighs in a little HEAVIER than style in final results. Let me know what you think of that.

RESULTS

The resulting possible compatibility has 4 levels, with a neutral non-level in the middle. This means that your Sim won't react to Sims who aren't really fitting to either turn-ons or turn-offs and just be neutral about them.
So, it's like this:
- Very Charming
- Rather Charming
- (nothing)
- Rather Charmless
- Thoroughly Charmless

The Sim performs an animation and gets an effect and a thought bubble relating to what level of attraction they got, if any. Three bolts = strong, one bolt = mild.

The effect of attraction: Fairly basic for now: influence on autonomy towards the sim; some moodlets. More later, very likely!

The Settings: It's the same as it is already in the released version, plus a little addition: the systems can be turned off globally, turned on globally (this is like the release version), or turned on globally but off for specific Sims (the addition).

VOTE ON TWO LITTLE THINGS

1. When getting a 'very charming' or a 'thoroughly charmless', a notification pops up. Do you prefer it: with the icon of matching level (a), or with the icon of the other sim (b)?

2. Do you want the attraction to kick in:
a. at first meeting introductions (pros: automatic and unmissable; cons: immediate)
b. at using 'get to know' interaction (pros: perhaps more 'real'; cons: missable and non-automatic)

Feel free to share feedback on all of it of course, which I can take into account moving forward!

Thanks a lot,
Lumpinou

I don't know enough about anything to know if this is possible, but if it is, one physical attribute to possibly consider adding to "style" turn ons/offs is skin tone. Just like you have the various hair and eye colors - maybe add choices for fair skin, medium skin and dark skin?

lumpinou

It is completely possible but I will not add it for more ethical reasons. Like, I know it's a thing irl etc, but it can easily come off as racist so I would rather not go there to avoid misuse of it. Also, most of the turn ons in the style part, a person can influence by choice, which is why I called them 'style' - it is apparence stuff but might change - but skin tone can't be changed with colored contact lenses or a wig. Basically what I'm saying is I've tried to set this up on a way that can't be construed as too discriminatory, and skin tone is beyond my comfort zone on that. But it is a thing irl of course and in not necessarily a racist way at all. I just don't want people to misuse features

ChelleBelle716

I completely understand. I had a feeling maybe that's why it wasn't already in there.

Cool, all of the things we can vote for. I'm looking forward to it no matter what the vote turns out to be

Very excited to try this out. An attraction system has been my number one wishlist item since TS4's initial release. Between your mods and MissyHissy's wants overhaul, my game feels like I'm playing TS2, and it has been so enjoyable.

I had to take some time to go into the game and take another look at the Turn-On/Turn-Off options. I am glad there is an emphasis on personality. My question is are there plans to incorporate the traits from other modders? This is actually something I'd like to see in First Impressions as well. I use a lot of custom traits by Kuttoe and KiaraSims4Mods, so I would love to see those accounted for. Vicky Sims/chingyu is also a popular traits modder, but they have a TON of traits, so I get that would be a huge ask. Maybe a better option would be a way for the end user to map a trait (or skill) to a turn-on category?

lumpinou

Yes it is possible to integrate traits from others, but that's not to the player's view. Basically, I would add the refs to the traits from others into what matches or mismatches a turn on or turn off. I have a list thingie from Chingyu from back to first impressions time which should help. It is not done in first impressions because first impressions is a little rigid at the moment and I need to re do it to simplify integration. But with this, it is already made with that flexibility to begin with

helaene

I guess I can stop working on an attraction add-on for PrefPlus! oops! lol

lumpinou

There's no huge harm in doing several things - Turbo has one just for physical, pancake has one just for personality (I think?), I even have first impressions for general platonic sim reactions / attractions, there's more of them laying around on mts and whatnot, etc. It's up to you what you do! 🫂 I started releasing mine in my m16 meet&mingle the 15th of last month, and did write that the functionality for it was upcoming soon, so it should not be new info either eheh :)

lumpinou

OH also, if you were to become interested in your mod's currently existing preferences about activities etc etc to count in my system for turn ons and turn offs, that can be done of course and welcome. For this and First Impressions, which I am to remake soon. (For now I have Chingyu ready to integrate, with whom I'd discussed this back in the days of FI and we'd listed everything then already - but more are always welcome)

A problem with linking to "getting to Know" is if you mean the specific interaction, I give all my sims the Observant trait so they know all traits upon introduction, so they can skip the Getting To Know interactions. You will need to account for this. I would think the observant trait should trigger your attraction notice.

Sam D.

I've been enjoying the complexity added to the game when Turbo's system conflicts for individual sims with their First Impressions of another sim. Love it when they react by feeling really annoyed by someone they are fiercely attracted to! So I like these layers!

lumpinou

They can still use the interaction even if they have the trait, it just gets another purpose. So I don't see that as a problem personally. I do give that trait to my Sims too ehe But I ended up making the trigger method a setting anyways

Anonymous

It looks like Lumpinou's already working with Chingyu for it, per their reply to helaene :)

moonlightsimmer

Another notification option could be option A, but instead of the player sim's pic in the box the npc sim's pic could show instead to align with the attraction notification.

moonlightsimmer

Regarding compatability with ww above states that the rpo physical attraction system will turn off if we use the ww attraction system but will the mod recognize ww physical attraction settings that are similar to yours such as freckles, tattoos hair color etc. within the turn-ons/offs or only personality?? Thanks.

lumpinou

Hi! Basically it's the one or the other and so they don't recognize each other's details no. If you use Turbo's apparence attraction system and have stuff set in it, then mine will be off. So, it doesn't need to recognize anything because, it just stays off if Turbo's systems for attraction are on. Of course this is only for the appearance side. For personality, it stays available even if a Turbo mod is active. So it's up to players to install this mod or not, some prefer to have only one system, some prefer to have several if they do different things
