Hey all, at long last, I've finally completed the update to the Alternate Artificer & Alternate Artificer: Expanded. (Thanks to everyone who voted for my most complicated class in the Patron poll...).

I've made some small, but significant, changes to the base class. Namely, the addition of cantrips, and the removal of the Wondrous Item class feature.

The Expanded Document has been updated to work with the changes to the main class, and has gotten a fairly significant visual makeover.

As usual, I'm open to any suggestions or feedback you have!

Alternate Artificer

  • Infusions // Replicate Magic Item // New feature of Infusions
  • Spellcasting // (begrudgingly) added back cantrips
  • Spellcasting // Removed // purify food and drink
  • Adjustable Infusions // Also allows you to replicate magic items over a short rest.
  • Wondrous Item // Removed
  • Magic Item Mastery // Now scales to Rare and Very Rare at 20th level
  • Soul of Aritifice // Minor/Ribbon buff to our resurrection magic.
  • Alchemist // Homunculus Servant // Acidic Spittle damage increased to 2d4.

Alternate Artificer: Expanded

  • Infusions // Enhanced Tool Set // Now grants a bonus to your INT mod. Requires that you be proficient with the tool set that you Infuse.
  • Infusions // Ring of Proficiency // Requires you be proficient in the skill/tool.
  • Infusions // Wall Shield // NEW Infusion
  • All Specializations // Your “signature item” can be crafted over 1 hour.
  • Aeronaut // Aeronaut’s Harness // Renamed (Featherfall Harness). Just grants you the Featherfall Harness Infusion now.
  • Aeronaut // Flying Machine // Streamlined, increased the starting flight speed.
  • Aeronaut // Airborne Assault // Reverted back to bonus damage while flying.
  • Archivist // Improved Consciousness // Artificial Mind doesn’t count against your total number of Attunement Slots.
  • Biomancer // Biomancer Golem // Explicitly says your familiar is a Biomancer Golem
  • Biomancer // Modular Biology // You must use leatherworker’s tools. Bestial Senses now includes your sense of sight. Vestigial Limb can lift 2x your INT score in pounds
  • Biomancer // Arcane Evolution // Renamed (Strange Evolution).
  • Biomancer // Master Biomancer // Temp hit points now add your INT modifier.
  • Composer // Tools of the Trade // Moved the ability to learn instruments here.
  • Composer // Weaponized Apparatus // Clarified.
  • Dungeoneer // Extra Attack // Now the “Bladesinger” version!
  • Enhanced // Blade Enhancement // Moved to 1st level. Swapped with “Enhancements”
  • Machinist // Clarified every ability in this subclass. General restructuring.
  • Puppeteer // Marionette Strings // Removed limited uses.
  • Puppeteer // Strange Strikes // Removed “Smite” ability

Alternate Artificer: Expanded by laserllama

Many players feel that the official artificer class falls short of the fantasy it tries to capture. The Alternate Artificer seeks to more closely represent the fantasy of playing a true master of arcane invention. Included in this compendium are additional options meant to enhance the Alternate Artificer class: Additional Infusions.
