Version 2.0.0 of both the full Alternate Fighter class and the Alternate Fighter: Expanded is here! The goal of the Alternate Fighter has always been to bring the versatility of the Battle Master to the full class and allow fighters to perform feats worthy of legends both in and out of combat.

Official Content Compatible: The Alternate Fighter class works seamlessly with any officially published content after the Player's Handbook, including Fighting Styles and Martial Archetypes from Xanathar's Guide to Everything and Tasha's Cauldron of Everything.

New Fighting Styles: A multitude of new fighting styles to allow for many different types of combat and warriors. All balanced against the Player's Handbook.

Martial Exploits: Replacing Maneuvers, Exploits allow for fighters to perform feats of technical skill and legendary power; both in and out of combat!

Rebalanced Class Features: In order to make room for Martial Exploits, the 6th level "bonus" Ability Score Increase has been removed, Action Surge has been moved back to 6th level, Extra Attack (3) has been moved up to 17th level to match cantrip scaling, Indomitable has been reworked to be a Legendary Resistance-lite, and a new Exploit-themed ability, Relentless, has been added at 20th level!

Rebalanced Archetypes: The Arcane Knight (Eldritch Knight), Champion, and Master at Arms (Battle Master) have been reborn in light of the new class, and are joined by the Commander and Marksman Archetypes!

Fighter Builds: A lackluster idea from Tasha's Cauldron of Everything has been reborn into something functional and thematic. See recommended builds for playing as a Duelist, Gladiator, Knight, Peacekeeper, Pugilist, Shock Trooper, Sniper, Spellsword, and Warlord!

Alternate Fighter: Expanded: This supplement includes a multitude of new Fighting Styles, spell-like Martial Exploits, six new Archetypes, and Archetype Exploits for all of the official Archetypes published after the Player's Handbook.

Alternate Fighter by laserllama

The young guard quietly slipped past his comrades out the back door of the armory where the townsfolk were hiding. A bandit gang had come upon the town suddenly that morning, and their captain had issued a challenge. If a warrior from the town could best him in single combat, his gang of bandits would leave peacefully.

Absolutely love the Tasha's style templates. It is a great feature and a compromise on a previous comment I left about Gladiators (not *everything* needs to be a subclass). Quick note: pg5, Indomitable, paragraph 2, typo -- you have "stating at" instead of "starting at" ... I'm not sure if you have a Copy Editing sheet to report little things like that, but it might be nice. I make no promises to free editing but I do love proof-reading haha. I think the subclass exploits are pretty good overall right now. Most subclasses have a ribbon and at least one good exclusive with a couple of exceptions. Guardian has the incredible exploit of Heart of Steel but their other exclusives are highly situational. I kind of wish the Pact Warrior had at least one unique exploit (they are the same as the Arcane Knight). And Echo Knight's Enhanced Echo is also pretty niche and Shadow Transposition prrobably doesn't need to include language about provoking attacks of opportunity (redundant). The reason(s) may very well be balance, and it does not stop those subclasses from choosing other exploits, but was mostly looking for your thoughts around those pieces. Loving the work you're putting in. Hope you post to Reddit again soon. Would love to see what the community thinks!

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you like the "Fighter Builds", they were a last-minute addition to the class. I think they came out pretty well. Heart of Steel is definitely strong, but it has precedent in the game already with the Goliath's racial ability that reduces incoming damage. The Guardian will also be a little more pressed for Exploit Dice since their main feature (Defensive Stance) requires one to initiate. Pact Warrior will probably get an exclusive, I just couldn't think of one when I was working on this update, and I really wanted to get it published. I'm always open to ideas. As for Shadow Transposition, I went for more flavorful Exploits for the Echo Knight, Rune Knight, and Psi Warrior since the subclasses themselves are so strong. Though, with Exploit Dice being part of the base class, you could probably re-work those subclasses to be a little more streamlined (ie: having their features key off Exploit Dice instead of a separate pool).
