# Monastic Traditions

Way of the Boulder

(Cue Avatar References!) This is my take on a sumo/kung-fu panda/beefy monk. Where a normal monk wants Dex, Wis, then Con, the Way of the Boulder switches the paces of Con/Dex. I think the reduction to Unarmored Movement balances it out. Monk also isn’t the strongest class in the book, so some tiny buffs won’t hurt.

Way of the Sacred Inks

My take on what is *in my opinion* a big missing archetype in the Monk class. They lend themselves so well to divine concepts! The flavor on this one is a little narrow (with sacred tattoos), but I think its a really neat idea for a Monk. Their 3rd level Divine Conduit features are fairly strong, but you can only have on “active” at a time.

Way of the Vigilante

This one is a bit silly, but I think I’ve justified the concept with the flavor text. Super Heroes are huge in pop culture right now, so I wanted a way to build a Monk/Super Hero (their class features work really well for it). Spider-Man, Daredevil, etc (Batman??) could all be build as Monks. This is a first draft, so I’m open to feedback.

Way of the Void

I designed this to be a counterpart to the College of Creation in Tasha’s (that’s what the 3rd level ability is based on). This Tradition might make for a better villain than hero. Again, another first draft, so looking for feedback on this one. I like the flavor, but the mechanics may need some tweaking.

Way of the Wilds

A Monk subclass for all the monstrous/beast races we have in 5e! Obviously, it isn’t exclusive to them (though in my games it would be). I’ve shared this one before and done a little streamlining. The goal is to have the features at 3rd and 17th level be equal in power, what do you think?

At 3rd level, a Monk gains the Monastic Tradition feature. The following options are available to a Monk, in addition to those offered in the Player's Handbook: Way of the Boulder, Way of the Sacred Inks, Way of the Vigilante, Way of the Void, and the Way of the Wilds.
