I’ve honestly never seen Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir, but that will honestly make this review more interesting as Miraculous: Ladybug and Cat Noir, The Movie will be my first experience with the franchise. Did I start off on the right path with this one?

I'll be honest, much like you I have never seen a single episode of Miraculous Ladybug and Cat Noir, while I definitely await that it does have a huge fanbase, it’s something I never got into, and I don’t think I'm missing much with this movie, while I definitely think this has some great animation and a big upgrade compared to the series, the story doesn’t seem that interesting, the characters are generic, and the songs aren’t that great, while I think fans of the show could definitely get into this, I don’t think it’s something I’ll get into. Also on a side note, Mat I’m glad everything went well with your tonsil removal surgery and I definitely hope you feel better soon.

Like you I never watch any episodes of the Miraculous Ladybug and Cat Noir. I know that it is on Disney+ for fans and newcomers can get into, but I never find myself getting into. Maybe this film can do much as I see it more as a prequel film and after watching it, I find it very generic and forgettable. The story was bland, the writing was mediocre, characters were weak, the romance wasn’t good as I think Elemental did it much better than this, the comedy was bad, and the songs which I find it surprising that this is a musical film to be very dull and what took me out of the experience the most upon sitting through this. On the other hand, I find the animation looked great, the action scenes can be decent at times, and the score can be good too. Yeah I find it overall to be forgettable and don’t think I’ll be interested in checking it out with the series. I only watch it because it had Bryce Papenbrook, known for English dubbed on two popular anime series Attack on Titan and Demon Slayer as Eren Jeager and Inosuke Hashibira, to be voice of Cat Noir and that it. I’m sure longtime fans will enjoy this than I did, I just think it didn’t look that great as a newcomer. Hope you get well from that surgery Mat!

Well to say... At least it tried. That's what I figure when I saw this film. Not bad, but certainly can do better. And this coming from someone who actually did see the series. Throughout the past 5 seasons is literally the same thing, but to say with better character dynamics. To simplify this movie like "Lightyear" logic, while the show is like "Simpsons" logic. I can say it's even true for even the show has their own Miraculous movie inside the series. You see throughout every episode, while the main plot is mainly the romance with the two, and the villain is the same thing, That's what the movie got right. If this were an episode, the subplot would focus on another character that plays a role of person having their own difficult conflicts, resorting into getting into their anger and become the main antagonist of the said episode. That kinda the show in a nutshell, especially throughout the series the main leads don't get together until the FIFTH season! Where the movie is more like "cut to the chase" and get together in one film. However I can agree what it lacks is divinely some of it's characters dynamics and not to mention it's humor. (They were certainly Less Juvenile then this) They still have their charm but it can be lacking since this is like a full on reboot compare to how we know them originally. But what I find that is really off pudding, is really the songs. Not to say anything bad about the songs I think are fine on their own, but Believe me to say it's really spreading out it's own controversy over the replacement singers, consider to be overly Unnecessary! Like Cristina Vee is actually a great singer! Deep down I can tell she really feeling injustice because of it. (she even making videos of her singing powerful songs) I'm already guessing this is too long to read. But I think I really got my point across. The film is really a mixed bag, but I still think it's a least it downgrade to just being good...

As a Miraculous fan I can say this movie is good but flawed

Hey Mat, I want to say I hope things went well with the surgery and that your are getting the much needed rest. Now as for the movie....to be honest, I'm not that much of a Miraculous fan. Don't get me wrong, I did try to watch it 1-2 years ago, but I just didn't connect with it. I will say that I will give it credit that the animation did step up from being a tv anime to a feature film with the increased budget. But for me the writing is the thing that is a difficult point of entry to me at times. But the one thing I didn't expect was that this movie was going to be a musical, as I don't recall from the show that it had any musical moments (if there are fans of the show in here please let us know).

I never heard of this film before at all. It was intriguing I'll just say. Probably not the best but I'm glad to know of it.
