The History of The Muppets (Part 4) | Animation Lookback

I hope that somethin' better comes along.

I gotta say this is definitely one of the most interesting parts of this lookback so far. Labyrinth: While I personally don’t consider this as one of my favorite Jim Henson projects, I do consider as definitely one the most visually creative projects he’s ever done. The Jim Henson Hour: Honestly this really did end up being one the biggest failures in not just Him Henson's career but also one of the biggest failures in the history of the Muppets, while there were some good things that came out of it like some of the Muppet segments, Muppet Television was honestly a mistake. As for when Disney ended up buying the Muppets, back when they first bought the Muppets, they definitely ended doing some great things with them down the road and you can tell that it at least felt like Michael Eisner did at least care about the Muppets, also judging by this video it’s safe to say Muppet Vision 3D is going to be the honorable mention later on. Also on a side note I assume that the segments with the AniMat puppet weren’t completely done and will be added in the YouTube version this Friday. Overall this ended up being another solid entry, but next time, I am honestly not prepared because of the fact we are going to be talking about Jim Henson's unfortunate passing, even if we are going to talk about quite possibly one of the best Christmas specials, it’s going to start on a tragic note.

Definitely was worth the wait. While there were OBVIOUS issues with the green screen regarding the AniMat Muppet (at first, I thought the signal was lost and refreshed the page only to find out the media loss screen was a part of the video) it was still a well made and researched video. Although, this part of the Lookback was focused on not the finest moment of Jim’s career with the failure of the Jim Henson Hour and Labyrinth and the struggles over negotiating a deal with Disney to acquire the Muppets. The next part is definitely going to start on a LOW note. So, get your tissues out everyone.

What time is this? I want to make sure I’m up to watch this.

Well, this felt something else. As much as Jim continued to put his creativity on The Jim Henson Hour and The Storyteller, they became less memorable than what he and his team made in the past. With how this entry ended and how the next one will begin, I'm already getting flashbacks to AL: WDAS+ parts 4 & 5.

Labyrinth holds up supremely well I feel and I'm glad to see it get spotlighted.
