The best fairy tales happen after happily ever after

It’s kind of funny that he would end up getting a request for Shrek 2 in the same month that Puss in Boots 2 comes out not sure if that was intentional or not but it is interesting as for the next one I honestly have no idea as the clue was pretty vague the only one I could think of is maybe Up? But other than that I don’t know

Very fitting that you got to review this movie with Puss In Boots the Last Wish right around the corner. I absolutely love this movie, this was actually a movie I actually watched a lot as a kid and it’s without a doubt the best Shrek movie and one of Dreamworks best animated films, the story is very well done and does a great job expanding the original, the animation is really well done and still holds up very well even to this day, the characters both old and new are great, and the humor is fantastic and one of the funniest animated films I’ve ever seen. On top of that this gave us quite possibly one of if not the most iconic scene of the entire Shrek franchise with the Fairy Godmother's rendition of “Holding Out For a Hero” which I would say is the best rendition of te song, ever better than the original. Overall, Shrek 2 is without a doubt the best Shrek movie and one of Dreamworks best animated films, although it is kinda a shame that this was when the Shrek franchise peaked in popularity since after that both Shrek the Third and Shrek Forever After did kinda damage the franchise and really hurt its reputation. I am honestly not sure what the next classic review is going to be, but it should definitely be interesting.

AniMat's Next Classic Review: "The Fox and the Hound".

With how great Shrek 2 turned out, it kind of makes me question what happened when they made Shark Tale. Many have claimed Shark Tale to be DreamWork’s worst movie that they’ve made and it makes me wonder how they could go from Shrek 2 to a movie that felt more like it wanted to cash in on the success of Finding Nemo.

This is a good fitting given that Puss In Boots 2: The Last Wish is coming out as Shrek 2 was a fantastic movie and one of DreamWorks Animation’s best movies. I believe I seen it in theaters when I was a kid when it came out and I had a blast throughout. I even multiple times on dvd and Blu-ray from being a kid to an adult and it still holds up great to this day. The story was excellent, the writing was strong, the animation holds up well after all these years, great voice acting, solid memorable characters like Puss In Boots who later gets his own movies including the upcoming sequel very soon, a splendid laugh out loud humor, good action scenes, terrific direction by directors from Andrew Adamson, Conrad Vernon, and the late Kelly Asbury which may he rest in peace, the heart and message still remains intact, and let not forget about some awesome soundtrack like the music score and songs themselves like Accidentally In Love which it got nominated for Best Original Song alongside with this film being nominated for Best Animated Feature again except it lose to the Incredibles, Funky Town, and of course the rendition of Holding Out For A Hero for the climax thanks to both Harry Gregson Williams music and Jennifer Saunder’s vocal performance while playing as the villainous Fairy Godmother. This is perfect made sequel to be honest and I too give it 10/10 just to show how much it one of the best DreamWorks movies out there that deserves to be seen from different generations as times goes on. Glad you reviewed it Mat!

Seriously one of the best sequels ever made, simply because it really surpasses the original, and any sequel that can do that is a must watch. Wow, that actually watched the Fox and the Hound Real recently, and while it’s definitely a childhood favorite of mine, it’s definitely one of those Disney movies that does get you tear eyed, but not for what you may think.

Over a year and a half prior to “Shark Tale’s” release (under the initial title, “Sharkslayer”), Jeffrey Katzenberg went on record to pass any “Finding Nemo” comparisons off as coincidental, at best. That and “Shrek 2” was already in production by the time “Shark Tale” was greenlit (the latter being DreamWorks’s first computer-animated film without the aid of PDI).

YAY SHREK 2! But in all seriousness this is a great movie, and maybe the best Shrek movie follow up after the first by far. Great movie to end the year and we will wait to start the next with The Fox and the Hound.

In honor of the late Kelly Asbury.
