I definitely got more time to work on my videos, alright. However, it was still a pretty stressful week for me, especially hearing that one of my family members got COVID and putting me in the spot where I feel like I've been the most at risk of catching it myself. Thankfully, they're feeling better and it will be for sure that it'll be over by Christmas, but it was personally not a fun time to go through this week. Still, I managed to do what I can to stay safe, including getting both my booster and my flu shot (I don't recommend to do at the same time. The side effects hit me like a ton of bricks), and got a lot of work done. So here's what I've been up to this week.
- Released my review of Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio: After experiencing the feature on the big screen a few weeks ago, I think it's safe to say now that we found the winner for the best animated film of the year. This really is as amazing as the hype made it out to be. With the minor exception of how it's structured as a musical, everything about it is a phenomenal experience that got me in tears by the end. I will say though that making this review was a serious challenge, especially, as a Netflix movie that wasn't released yet when I was working on it, there was very little materials that I was able to work with and relied on finding good snapshots to use to present some of my points. Not to mention most of the soundtrack not being released and can't even use that to present examples of the songs. It was a challenge for sure, but at least I was able to get through it and now I can just look back and admire what del Toro created with this feature.
- Editing the Top 5 Best & Worst Animated Films of 2022: There were a few obstacles I had to face, including the aftermath of the side effects of my shots during the night), but I was able to get the video mostly finished!...Key word being mostly. I was able to get the majority of the whole video complete, including crafting a creative opening that I'm sure many will get a kick out of, but the only thing let would be a few tough ups and maybe a few more movies I need to double-check in order to fully complete the list. Still, I feel like I've managed to accomplish a big task this week and I'm happy with how it's looking now. I think I'll be ending this year off with quite a bang ;)
- Working on a special Disney+ Review: I've already gotten some people asking me already about some of the newly-released streaming animated films and when I'll be reviewing them. I've seen some comments going "What about Rodrick Rules?", "What about Night at the Museum?", "What about Scrooge?" Maybe these people have forgotten that this is an incredibly busy time of year (especially for me) and that some of my time has to be spent outside of making videos, but I do have something planned. When it comes to the ones released on Disney+, I'm gonna do a special Vlog-style review where I'll go non-script to express my thoughts on both Rodrick and Museum, since they both share some similarities and can give me a chance to talk about Disney+ for a bit. I'm working on having this review done now so that I can also use them as the final pieces to fully complete the Top 5. Once I'm done, this will be the final video (possibly) I'll make for 2022 and then I'll move on to what will be in store for 2023.
- REMINDER FOR PATRONS $50+/MONTH: This month's Discord Chat will be happening on Tuesday the 13th, and Thursday the 15th and both at 2pm EST. Let me know if you're not available for either so I'll organize a quick chat.
So that was my week of the final batch of 2022 videos. By this point, I wouldn't be surprised that this could be my final week with this much free time to work for the year because then the Holidays will be coming up and I'll need to prepare for parties with friends and preparing for the big day with family. Until that time comes, I'll just get myself ready for 2023. So, until next time...
See ya later, dudes!
