I haven’t really heard of this movie, before this review so I don’t really have much to say, but I can definitely see how this can be a great holiday movie for people to watch, even though it feels different from your traditional holiday movies. So the next classic review is Shrek 2, without a doubt the best Shrek movie and on of Dreamworks Animation's best movies.

To be honest, this was the first Satoshi Kon movie I ever watch when I got the GKIDS one so for me and mom to watch together before watching the rest like starting with Paprika, then Perfect Blue, and finally Millennium Actress which I’m sure you’ll cover the last one later on but with this, I really like this movie. Great emotional story, superb direction by Kon himself, great complex characters, excellent humor which I might even say that this is the funniest movie I seen out of all the Satoshi Kon films I seen, great voice acting for the GKIDS English dub one which by the way, I applaud them in getting an actual transgender actor to play Hana in which Shakina Nayfack does a great job for that role, and some heart that this movie displays on. I will give criticisms that the coincidence good luck nature kinda get ridiculous as the movie progresses and do make a good point whether this film should be made in live action as there not much surrealism in there but still doesn’t change the fact that the movie is good. Really love this movie so I highly recommend for those that want to watch this during Christmas. Reviewing Shrek 2 next month? Sweet! Given that it would be a perfect timing since Puss N Boots: The Last Wish is coming next month so it would make sense. Can’t wait!

Admittedly, anime is not my cup of tea, but this does look awesome!

I have seen this movie but this was a funny story. I did see the movie for a fathom event at my movie theater and I had missed maybe 5 minutes of the middle because I got approved for a job over the phone. But it was ironic because both this movie and my job at the time were right when the pandemic was coming in. So this was my last movie at the time I saw in the theater before I would return for a while. As for the movie itself, I like it and was surprised at how tamed Satoshi Kon was with this movie with its simplicity because I did see two of his previous works Perfect Blue and Millennium Actress. Well Mat, I'm glad you enjoyed Tokyo Godfathers, now the only Satoshi Kon works you have left are Millennium Actress and Paranoia Agent.
