Heyo everybody! I wanted to make this post earlier today but better late than never; Merry Christmas and/or Happy Holidays! Sorry to say I don't really have any Christmas surprises planned for today, but that doesn't mean I can't do an update on development progress!  I don't have a ton to show off today, but there are a few things.

First off, let me get this out of the way - v.29 is probably going to end up being delayed a bit into January, maybe around the middle of the month or so. I'd like to say things are completely back on track, but I'm still having some trouble getting fully into the swing of things again. Me and my lady started a diet recently to start getting our health in check, and it's kinda been kicking my ass and keeping my energy levels down. Sorry for the delay, just wanted to let you all know what's happening.

For my part, I've still been mostly working on the save system. I was a bit preemptive in my latest post, and a few more issues popped up during polish. It's taken up more effort than I hoped it would; adding in a system like this after so much of the game has been developed has made me rework how certain elements of the code function, like room transitions and enemy data. With that said, while I still have some testing to do, (hopefully it isn't too early to say) it's fully functional (again) now! Needless to say I won't be waiting so long to implement a proper save system again in our next project.

The most exciting thing I have to share today is a screenshot showing off the new tileset for the Deep Soil, as well as the new HUD we've been working on! Some of these assets are still being worked on, so they may change slightly (or entirely) by the time the update comes out, but hopefully you'll agree that they're looking much, much nicer than our old stuff. You can take a look at it here: https://i.imgur.com/ttmQJxn.png

Aside from that, Orexius has been working on Alicia's jumping animations. We're making some slight changes to the way her jump animation works now - instead of having one jumping animation for all situations, Alicia will have two separate animations, one for when she jumps while running and one for when she jumps while standing still. Just another little touch to make her animations feel more natural and flow better, something that's very important to me in terms of overall game feel. I'll see if I can get a gif of this in action once the base animations are done.

Well, that's it for me for this update. Hope your holidays have been and continue to be wonderful everybody, and thank you all so much for your support and love; I'm truly grateful to be here, making my dreams come true by making this game for you all. Cheers!
