Meet Nui! The first of the Fey introduced into GrimLewd. I wanted to try coming up with a race that fills the "pretty ones with pointy ears" niche, while being interesting from the grim fantasy point of view. I think I got it.

Yes, all of them have glowy hair in different colors. Yes it is very inconvenient while trying to be sneaky.

Lore:

The Fey: A race born as a result of an ancient attempt at improving humanity through magic. Specifically by combining human souls with remnants of a dead trickster god. A mostly successful effort. They are all beautiful, strong, long living, magically gifted and almost completely immune to corruption. With two caveats:

-While in the human realm, their experience of emotions and sensations is muted. Not completely cut off, but they need stronger stimulus to really feel something.

-Their trickster souls make it difficult for them to pass up a challenge or a game of chance. They are not quite slaves to these impulses, but it is something they have to actively resist.

Realms: Different worlds, separated by vast seas of magic and corruption. Traversal between them is incredibly difficult. Natural gates appear sometimes, but they are extremely dangerous because they bleed magic and corruption. Safe gates are possible, but difficult to create. Lower realms encompass all of the human world.

The Fey realm: Thousands of years ago the Fey retreated into their own realm, carved out of a corpse of a God. Inside they don't suffer from the curse of unfeeling. While it's not entirely without its dangers it is way safer than the "lower realms''. Vast majority of the Fey prefer to live there. Very few leave of their own will.

Unfortunately, the Fey realm is not that big. The rulers of the realm regularly dump the poor, the criminals and the politically inconvenient into the lower realms for humans to deal with.

Some of the banished Fey manage to figure out how to find happiness in the lower realms after a difficult adjustment. Some hold on long enough to manage to buy their way back into their homeland.

And some... Well... Live short, violent lives, trying to chase strong sensations.

So those are my "elves, but better". I think that they have some storytelling potential. Depressed weirdos? Mega sluts? Serial killers? Crazy hobos? All of the above?!?

I hope that you like them!

That is a very cool concept. A bit of the Eldar, a bit of the unfeeling nastiness of the fey, a whole lot of desperation.

These designs are amazing. Like mind-expanding amazing.

Machia36

That's really fucking cool!

Atashkada

Oh no, a cutie in distress!

I very much like this take: yes, awesome intrinsically magical elves, but any of them you actually meet is an outcast with severe problems. If she lives through this hunting expedition, Nui really needs to get laid.

Interesting take on fae. What I'm a little curious myself is whether groups such as these fae or the coldborne can still interbreed with normal humans or they are sufficiently corrupted/distant they lost the ability to do so. It looks like humanity has been up to all sorts of crazy things for a long time now with various results. I imagine that Fey are standing at a precarious balance and are well aware of it; decadence can be a natural development of long age but it's also dangerous. Perfectionism and dedication to a particular skillset is one way of helping to keep themselves occupied...which can of course be at odds with their impulsive nature. Their society likely has its own slew of problems despite the apparent perfection.

I sense some BDSM shit in their future, if they survive and want to feel anything...

Beautiful, strong, magically gifted, almost completely immune to corruption? Need stronger stimulus to feel something, can't pass up a challenge? Fuck. This is such a good idea.

I can’t stop imagining a fae shaving their head and as the hair starts to just grow again, they would look like a laser show at the planetarium with all the tiny point of light shooting in all directions.

Also, just looking at her classes, Nui gives a strong vibe of “beautiful entertainer that heard/witnessed the wrong thing and was quickly disposed of” for some reason. And what is more dark fantasy than undeserving people meeting terrible fates?

This stuff is all so fire, really great work!

Dan Curtis

I wonder how many fallen fey become psychopaths while they take any wild and extreme actions to feel something.

InCaseArt

The vague idea I've had was that she lost a whole bunch of money gambling and stopped paying her taxes haha! But I do really like your idea.

InCaseArt

Interbreeding between humans and all human derivatives[corrupted, fey etc.] is possible, as well as various corrupted mixes. The bigger the magical/corruption difference between the two individuals the less likely the pregnancy to occur. The are [classes] and [abilities] that make it way easier though. For example coldborne and humans would have a really, really hard time conceive naturally BUT their culture has [shamans] and [midwives] whose role is to facilitate such pregnancies. There is a lot of hybrids running around in the Spinelands.

Well done. You did a fantastic job with these. Definitely a great substitute for Elves. So pretty and colorful. Love the arcane archer class too. Hope we get to see a lot of her. Level 12 dancer could be fun too. A lot of potential for this character.

I'm really starting to get into this new world your creating. I hope you have big plans for it. Not just for the lewd stuff either. Keep doing what your doing.

Wild Bill

Hmm, I'm imagining "breeder" classes for people who dedicate a significant portion of their time to it.

“Hunting caps “ would clearly be a thing for them with that hair. And a whole new meaning to “keeping it under your cap”. What are the blue lines on the bow on either side of the arrow?

Perfect way to be aloof but exiting when thing get heated. In all meanings of the word heat.

Wouldn’t these elves make great spies being calm in talks but willing to go to extremes for the rush?

Anonymous

Ooh, I would love to see more of her

Anonymous

I LOVE them! Such a creative take. Well done!

As a massive fan of elves, I'm legally obligated to protest whenever someone implies something is better than them.

Wow, the idea behind the origin of elves you've presented here is just fantastic. Dead-hearted extremists who just want to feel and can't resist a game of chance. Human/magic/trickster god hybrids. Delightful.

Alfons

"they need stronger stimulus to really feel something" yeah I see where you're going with that

That looks amazing

Great!!
