Wellp, dearest Patrons, this month is definitely going to see some unusual content (more on this matter shortly), with today's installment being a truly unique type of post: Namely, I commissioned the excellent artist Karla Diaz, who did the art for 2017's miniseries Empowered and the Soldier of Love, to work up a color piece featuring the starcrossed couple from fantasy project The Chaste and the Chained!

Here's the initial rough:

...and a work-in-progress jpeg of the flat colors:

Gotta admit, I hadn't considered that the Elf Mage's hair clips could be multi-colored (I assumed they would be gold or silver), but that is in fact entirely possible! Alas, as a B&W guy at heart, I rarely think much about color schemes for the characters I draw.

And here's the final version:

Note that this composition was riffing on the "medium shot/close-up" combo seen in an earlier art test of mine for The Chaste and the Chained:

Worked out nicely, gotta say!

BTW, here's one of my favorite pages from Karla's work on Empowered and the Soldier of Love:

Anyhoo, on The Chaste and the Chained beat, thanks much for your suggestions on potential artists on that post from November 11 soliciting your opinions; as yet, I haven't gone through said suggestions in detail due to incessant distractions from other work, but plan to do so shortly. As you might've perceived by now, I'm not so much poor at multi-tasking as barely able to multi-task at all.

Along those lines, the rest of this month will see some unusual types of posts as a number of projects and interesting possibilities stumble towards Possibly Actually Happening next year:

*Coming soon will be a slightly cryptic few pages of sample art for a series I once worked on; this will just be part of an art test for another artist to work on, so I wouldn't read that much into the subject matter. (Ahem.)

*The Currently Unidentified (but Excellent) Artist who's working with me has produced nearly 20 pages worth of really neat-looking character designs so far for a Currently Unidentified Fantasy Comic Pitch (one never directly addressed here, BTW) , so I might start showing off a few of those this month.

*An ongoing feature kicking off this month will feature more of my absurdly tight layouts for a writing-only freelance gig of yore; not yet sure which one that will be, though the project in question will remain unidentified to the public (as with Livewires' layouts).

*I'm hoping to expand a whole bunch of long-dormant means of exploiting my existing body of work in 2024, so I'll likely be soliciting opinions on some of the options I'm considering.

*I'll also prrrrobably be doing some kind of Xmas art piece involving Patron participation, so stay tuned for more on that subject.

*That's all in addition to the usual Life Drawing features and Distressed Damsels content (which will focus on "Elf vs. Chair" and Rose & Lily, looks like) and whatever other semi-recurring types of posts I can fit into the month's M/W/F slots.

Thanks for your support, and I'll blither at ya later!

Karla did a great job on C&C here!

Elf mage and paladin look cute here, though I don't know how I feel about the purple eyes. And I can't be 100% until I see her in distress. *grins*
