So this current arc is amazing all the way through probably 9/10. I loved the next one and I think you will too but the chimera ant arc is by far the longest and a 10/10 arc. It is one of the best written anime arcs of all time. From here on out the show is amazing

Also one of the great things about HxH is that they blur the good and evil. Its not like DB or OP because almost everyone is neither good nor evil. Each character is so well written it questions everyones morals

Honestly Hunter X Hunter is one of the only shounen shows where every arc gets better than the last. The only other show is yu yu hakusho by the same man.b(minus the devil arc at the end)

Here’s the thing about power levels in HxH.... THEY DONT MEAN SHIT lmao. The beauty of nen and nen-fighting, is that it is so incredibly complex and versatile, that just because someone is strong as hell, like a level 10 out of 10, he can still be defeated by some who is only a 3 out of 10, if that someone is more prepared, or smarter etc. nen fighting is like Boxing, “Styles make fights”

These powers shouldn't be that wild to you, most stuff was explained in Heaven's Arena. * Uvogin makes his attacks stronger with Nen, he's an Enhancer. * Shalnark can control people, he's probably a Manipulator. * Machi turns her aura into a thread like substance, she's probably a Transmuter. * Shizuku can summon a vacuume cleaner, she's probably a Conjurer. * Hisoka is a Transmuter, as you've learned before. * Franklin shoots Nen bullets, he's an Emitter.

The general consensus is Yorknew is the 2nd best arc in quality, but it’s a throw up for the most popular. It deserves it’s praise. The fucking STELLAR music, iconic shonen moments and fights, the first time we see this level of darkness in an arc in this series and of course, the Phantom Troupe. It’s one of my favourite arcs of all time and the thrill it brings is unmatched in the whole anime. Saying all this though, there’s still one that tops them all yet to come.

In the episode where you first see Hisoka reveal the tattoo in the shower, the narrator says that he's a fake member and that his real goal is to fight the phantom troupe. So yeah they think he's real but he's just tricking them

That is kind of true to this point, but i really do disagree. Your saying the one after this is better than yorknew? Or the last one beats the one before that. I think this one and the second last one is way above the rest for me.

This arc is usually argued to be the best or second best, its my second favourite, but it is awesome you finally got to the great shit in HxH

HxH arcs aren't about the destination but the journey. Each arc has individual moments that make it great. That said, most people would say Yorknew City arc is one of the two arcs that define HxH as a great anime. As you've seen, it's got a tonal shift compared to the previous arcs that gives it a highly impactful contrast. Also, it focuses more on the villains than the main characters, making the villains' goals clear and feel almost more human and developed than the other characters we already know.

Destroy? Hard disagree. Yorknew city arc is top 1 for me and many people. It basically comes down to how much you like the Troupe and the difference in pace too.

This arc goes balls deep, Greed Island is a bit more relax but the arc after that is going to dp you by the end

no this arc is only starting. it is the longest so far. but it is a very good one. not the best but still one of the best.. then again they are all good. best anime/manga ever. still waiting for Togashi to come back, I need my hunter x hunter it has been to long... and the last arc is just so good.

Your speech at the beginning about the arcs is interesting because there's a pretty clear consensus about which arcs are best, I'd argue more so than with One Piece. Chimera Ants is widely regarded as the best arc in Shonen anime, and kind of towers above the rest of the show, but Yorknew City (the one you're on) is the other arc people heavily praise. Unfortunately HxH is often referred to as a two-arc show because those two arcs tower over the rest, but I still thoroughly enjoy them all. There's still a pretty clear consensus, though, that Hunter Exam > Heavens Arena > Election, but Greed Island is the super divisive one, with many putting it as the third best above those three (which I personally would) and many considering it the worst arc.

Right now (as I'm experiencing the show for the first time with Ruff's reactions) my ranking for the arcs would be Heavens Arena > Yorknew City > Hunter Exam > Zoldyck Family* This might change as I continue watching Ruff's reactions and continue further into the Yorknew City & other future arcs, but I'm really confident at the moment that Heavens Arena is my current favorite. Though all of them so far have been pretty fantastic, and really I don't see any of them as being drastically better or worse than any other. They're really close in quality for me. *I do know that the Zoldyck Family arc is technically unofficial, but I still count it as it's own separate arc due to the story of it being so heavily differentiated from the arcs it sits between. I can't see it as part of the Hunter Exam or Heavens Arena arcs, personally.
