Probably some kinda Grey Goo scenario, or they decide humans are paranoid and liable to lash out at some point, resulting in a risk management decision of pre-emptive nerve gas or multi-century selective DNA gene editing towards quiet infertility.

Huge no-longer-scary robot lady no longer needs hug. Also, works well simultaneously as a display of affection that leaves no doubt as to their relationship, as a modest display where they don’t feel like they are showing off, and as part of a comics panel (e.g. we see both their faces). Which is why it was used for Hanners for instance.
