OLLIE FACTS:

1) he is a Smooth Collie! They're like Lassie but with short hair. They still shed a LOT

2) he goes to doggy daycare twice a week and pretty much sleeps the rest of the time

3) he hansom

4) he is a HUGE CHICKEN. He's too scared to jump in the car or go down our staircase on his own

5) he LOVES LOUD NOISES. It's really weird. If a big truck goes by, or there's someone using a jackhammer, etc, he is SUPER INTO IT

6) he has a SENSITIVE STOMACH. If he eats pretty much anything other than one specific kind of dog food (a fish and rice blend) and a small amount of treats (bread, dog treats, etc) he gets awful poops. We live in the city, which means he occasionally finds STREET FOOD and it leads to PROBLEMS

7) he LOVES CATS. He does not understand why the neighborhood cats don't love him back :(

8) his feet smell like popcorn

9) we didn't realize "Ollie" was part of "collie" until several weeks after we had named him, lol

10) he loves it when other dogs come visit, but if he sees me petting any dog who is not him, he will shove them out of the way because HE is the only person who I am supposed to pet

11) sometimes he farts and startles himself

For a long time, one of mine had feet that smelled like cookies, though it seems to have settled in her old age to corn chips. We still call her Cookiefoot sometimes.

Ollie is beautiful and sounds like a lot of fun!

I grew up next door to a collie who was best friends with a cat. I wonder if it's a general feature of collies?

Samantha Yeaman

OLLIE FACTS!!!!!!!!!!! 💛💛🐶💛💛

A. J. Alfieri-Crispin

Friends had a mastiff. The dog was allergic to meat protein. It wasn’t pretty when he detoured from his diet. Very expensive, dog specific, rice puffs were his main diet.

Lyman Green

Excellent! I see some dog things I am aware of others not. I like learning about other dogs. Dogs are the best

Ollie I would commit murder on your behalf

Awww, he's gorgeous! Doggos are the best.

Magic Chopstick Games

Do you have wood/hard surface stairs? Our pupper was terrified of going down the stairs until we put little carpet treads on them

1. You’ve been struck by... A smooth collie criminal 3. Yes, yes he is. 4. and 6. Are these typical of the breed? Or just to your doggo in particular? 10. "Thou shalt have no other dogs before me, for I am a jealous dog".

Anonymous

Is he scared of the stairs; or whats at the bottom? 😞

Anonymous

This may be my new favorite post.

My family had a dog who may have been a smooth collie. She would wake up and stare at her back end if she farted. If she farted a second time, she'd bolt. She was afraid of just about anything it was possible to be afraid of, including dolls, statues, loud sounds, soft sounds, insects, and birds. She wasn't afraid of cats though and would try to befriend them, usually unsuccessfully.

Ami

Always amused when my dogs would scare themselves from farts. Literally wake themselves up from a fart to a barking fit searching for what came out of their butts

Anonymous

Such a good pointy boi!

Anonymous

Now this is the content I signed up for! :D

Except for the loud noises part, you’ve described my dog too 😂 What a good boy!

Bark woof woof woof bark woof

Thomas A. Dennis

Had no idea that Ollie was a smooth collie--for some reason (maybe the angle of some of his pics?) I thought that he was a greyhound or part greyhound.

Hugh Eckert

Hello, Ollie! Our dog is often startled by her farts, too.

will davison

We had labs! Their paws smelled like Fritos! Maybe oily snack foods is a common thread?

JPGer

darklion

If your staircase is smooth (like wood or stone) many dogs get scared of that because they slip. My dog once slipped hard on our linoleum and after that he wouldn't walk on it, he needed to have rugs put in.

Vanestus

Awe, what a good boy.

Anonymous

When we first met, my partner would startle at her own snores ...

OldGoat

That is a pointyface's pointyface.

Anonymous

I mean... Same on 11.

Anonymous

My dog used to slip on my (fake) wood floors and refused to walk on them without an escort (he needs to walk across a wood floor to go out to the back yard). I tried rugs, but he refused to walk on those too. Then my vet told me about toe grips (the brand I use is Dr. Buzby's). My boy hasn't slipped once since we started using toe grips and is no longer afraid of walking across the floor.

Anonymous

I love this long boy

Penny Gotch

I once had a cat whose paws smelled like ginger biscuits.

Anonymous

The best long boi

I know it is for me. Err, I mean, for my dog. >.>

Don't all dogs feet smell like popcorn?

Anonymous

Great Ollie Facts. On the dietary one, my Labrador has a similar issue which appeared to be a food allergy. After multiple attempts, we found a brand made of salmon and ancient grains that had no chicken by products and no corn (not even as filler or stabilizer) and that was the magic that made him have normal poop consistency and no more goopy eyes. The downside is that it's one of the more expensive brands...but it's the price I'm willing to pay for dietary harmony.

Ollie is a dreamboat.

Mooster

Jeph, thank you for taking time during your vacation to share! Ollie is awesome! I hope you had a wonderful holiday, and an amazing New Year!

Yelling Bird

He farts and startles himself? So he gets fartled?

Tim Williams

I was under the impression that Ollie stands for 'Oll Leg'
