So the new version of Clip Studio, the software I draw my comics in, has a TIME LAPSE VIDEO feature! It's pretty neat! Here's a quick clip of me drawing an upcoming strip. Feels wild to see several hours of work condensed down to 30 seconds, lol

(here's a link in case the Patreon embed doesn't work, I've never uploaded a video before: https://questionablecontent.net/patreon/4427.mp4 )

Thats amazing work!

Matt Grayson

Wow! Total fun! Thanks, Jeph.

Chris Mannes

That is really cool, to see the minor ... shifts? corrections? whatever. It's neat to see it come together!

This is really cool to watch..

Scott Vogel

As long as these don't add to much to your work load I'd love to see more in the future.

This is super cool to see. Also, how am I just noticing those eyebrows?

BobC

Nice to see. You make it look easy! I still can't draw.

Honestly, the most fascinating parts for me were which parts of the comic Jeph switched to working on when.

Anonymous

That's actually pretty cool

Michael Boettger

Agreed! That is really neat to watch. To see the evolution of a particular strip.

Omg! Omg! Omg! I love this!!!!!

Matthew Graf

Awh that is cool as hell Jeph! Maybe next year, more Bembo?

lilibat

I just watched this five or six times, pausing frequently. It was really interesting. I'll pick out two things to comment on. First, I liked how your pencil drawings were visible but in a different layer throughout, but particularly when drawing the background. I can see how that would be really useful. The other thing is the way the characters jerk slightly after they're inked, and at one point it looks like she jumps in front of May. I infer that each character is in her own layer, and May was pulled forward so that she could be finished easily and just pushed back behind for a slight overlay, instead of having to guess where every line should go. Very cool!

WAY COOL! Wow. Thanks for sharing this. DEFINITELY do it again!

Wow that is really cool

Joseph Bonnar

Thank you, Jeph. And may you have a wonderful new year.

Holy crap that is so cool!!!!! 😍 Thank you so much for sharing!

Mark Mckay

why do I feel like this needs the yakit sax music...

Anonymous

Woah this was awesome :O

I remember when you used to stream these on twitch until you got banned/suspended for a boner cat AFK sketch. Definitely have missed those streams. Would love to see more of these!

Mark Thomas

It's amazing to see just how few lines are necessary to make it completely clear who the character being sketched is. Not even ten lines are necessary for them...

I still kinda hold that robot jail is mostly AIs doing forced "community service". May was made responsible for monitoring crosswalk requests for a suburb of Muncie.

Anonymous

This is awesome! It'd be really cool to hear you talk through your process and the steps you take.

William Cole

V cool! I voted for "take a week off" because I sincerely believe you (more than) deserve some down time, but I find process stuff fascinating, so if it's suitably low effort to share more of these, I'd love to see them.

OldGoat

I've always loved "how it's made" vids. I never imagined you started with the dialog then filled in the background, then the characters. Cool!

This is the best kind of bonus content, especially if it doesn't require extra effort to produce. So good to see the process.

Anonymous

That's super neat, thanks for posting it!

Take a week off they said... I don’t hate this, it is not horrible.

Kaarchin

Hey that's cool!

Anonymous

Awesome! =) It's great to see your process! =)

Zain Redding

Wow, a master at work.

Anonymous

That right there is sofa king cool, Jeph. Thanks.

You only do a *single* guide draft line layer? Jeez my first draft layers look like children’s crayon scribbles. You’ve come so far since your first comic it’s incredible

Anonymous

OhMyGosh, this is SO COOL! Thank you very much. 😀💖

The Patreon embed isn't loading for me in Chrome 87 on Android 11. Thanks for the direct link.

This is so cool to see. As someone who draws (albeit not as well) it's so awesome to see the processes of other artists. Love your comics Jeph, I hope you're getting rest dude.

Now quick go look at QC #1; someone should make a timelapse of your art style over time

Speech bubble tails are missing in the top right panel. Also, methinks Sam is about to get another important lesson vis-a-vis prying into other people's personal matters.

Anonymous

This is SO COOL.

Is there a canon height for May? I hope she's 6'2" now, because my girlfriend is that tall and she reminds me of May, what with all the being suspicious of other people's altruism toward her and all.

Anonymous

Nice time lapse, and it does it all by itself. Damn that's a sweet feature to add.

Those are serious eyebrows. Nobody should fool with her now. Kids, well let's just say they have yet to comprehend how serious eyebrows can be. Let them be.

Maurice Kessler

That is some great magic to watch. You make it look effortless.
