LH

was Yay about to commit an accidental CATNAPPING

Verteiron

I had an enormous polydactyl Maine coon once and he was the sweetest most magnificent cat I have ever owned.

Hercules: ‘Drat, almost got away with this robot...’

Grace Kieser

They likes the cat

Anonymous

That look on Yay's face. "Darn! Almost got away with him..."

Anonymous

oh he CHONKY

BobC

Had a childhood friend who name their fat cat "Flabby Tabby".

Anonymous

I have a Hercules, but he's got an orange tail and a lil' orange spot on his noggin

Michael Boettger

Now, did he forget? Or did he "forget"?

Joseph Bonnar

Like the proverbial elephant, Yay NEVER forgets. Unless they want to...

Shawn K. Younkin

Where is Melon?? Trying to steal Elliot's stinky clothes??

Justin Seifert

My cat also has extra toes, I believe they call them Polydactyl.

Anonymous

I would have walked out with him, too.

Max Kaehn

Maine Coons have a wonderful temperament and are gorgeous in the bargain. Also huge.

Joel Bateman

Yay is me when I see kitty.

Chas Simmons

The extra toes are a strain that has been in Massachusetts for centuries. "Boat people" -- Tories who supported the legitimate government of King George III who had to flee from Boston -- one of their houses is across the street from mine -- took many such cats to Nova Costa. But there are still some such cats here in Boston. I've seen them.

Andrew

Yes, but you must grant Yay unannounced visitation rights.

z

Heh, heh, heh...I now so want to see the buddy comedy movie of these two together. A genuine Nice Man, a NOT-nice AI cluster, and the cat that helps them all out.

Chris Heg

I have friends who named their Maine Coon Brenda Starr.

James Redekop

For anyone who likes Maine Coons, here are photos of our late Maine Coon, Grendel: https://flickr.com/photos/jnl/albums/736135

Attempted fluffnapping! For SHAME

Don't get me wrong he's a darling, but weren't Maine Coons supposed to look like Ron Perlman? :P

Joseph Bonnar

This is proof: CATS ship with everything and everyone. Change my mind.

Joseph Bonnar

I think more likely trying to roll in them. (I don't see her as being criminally inclined. I could be wrong, I believed Corpse Witch was just misunderstood for the LONGEST time.)

Anonymous

I feel like it is closer to sudden realization that they are still holding him.

Anonymous

And they would have gotten away with it to except for those meddling kids.

Ack

And he's perfectly fine with being carried out the door.

SpookyPenguin

See?! She was thinking of dinner!

Miyaa

It’s clear in the last frame that Hercules knows.

Bagge

an adequat cat

I'm so glad you've made Elliot a main character, he is the greatest <3

Leak

Part Maine Coon, part koala, part pterodactyl?

Anonymous

Used to have a Main Coon mix years ago. When he got hungry during the night, he woke me up by staring at me. Always nice to wake up early in the morning with that giant ginger head centimeters from my face, looking veeerrry hungry!

Evgeniy Semyonov

So, Yaylliot had found their adopted son. Everything is going as foreseen.

Anonymous

Also the Hemingway cats, though they may have come from Boston originally.

Mark

So close!

Andrew

I wonder where Melon got to... rolling in Elliot’s laundry hamper?

Serj Rowan

Maine Coons for the win! Check the beast of mine: https://www.instagram.com/p/B-mCyKrAf7G/?igshid=kpyhug0jy1ij

Herc strikes me as one of those cats that's inexplicably chill with whatever bullshit you throw their way. Yay and Melon could dress him up in all kinds of outfits and he'd just be like "....kay."

Elliot's quads for dayz

Clifton Royston

I recently watched Kiki's Delivery Service for the first time in a long while and so I just now realized Elliot shares some characteristics with the hulking muscular inarticulate baker in that movie. No wonder that he was picturing Brun as Kiki way back when she first appeared at the bakery.

awgiedawgie

My cat loves to look up at me when I'm holding her, just like Hercules is doing to Yay in the last panel.

Anonymous

Does make me wonder if the various bodies in the Yay group consciousness have different quirks - and if this one is a little tsundere.

Hugh Eckert

2nd panel blep.

Jeffrey Nonken

Polydactyl cats are awesome. Once upon a time I'd had to euthanize my cat and decided that, while I wanted another, I wasn't in a hurry. I decided to visit the local pound every Saturday and adopt the next "mitten kitten" I saw. I knew they came through once in a while, but figured the probability was low enough that it would take a while. So of course one showed up within two weeks. I was second in line for adoption, but the first people never showed, so less than a month later we were blessed by a polydactyl tortoiseshell I named Melissa. ...No particular reason for the name. Just seemed to fit.

OldGoat

It would appear Yay and I are in agreement WRT the efficacy of tomato juice for de-skunking.

John Ridley

Yeah I don't know why anyone would still be trying tomato juice now that we have something simple and cheap and available that actually works.

Ísabel Pirsic

mrrp is exActly what a Maine Coon would say!

Anonymous

Somebody probably already pointed that out, but most cats can't actually be carried like that, because their body is very flexible (and not stiff as a dog's) ; so if one carries a cat this way without putting a hand under the rear paws to maintain the cat, said cat will likely slip through the arms and fall on the floor. Sorry, cat nerd here and thinking about that every time I see someone holding Hercules this way >.<
