aw beeps :(

Lee B.

Aww poor Beeps lol

Joel Bateman

Now I wanna hug Beeps.

JD

Is Nelson Beeps' supervisor?

Anonymous

Why am I liking Roko so much. Jeph what have you done oh no

Andrew

But Beeps, you mastered the printer!

Miyaa

I’m a bit surprised Roko isn’t wearing a power dress when meeting with the parole officer. Also, I empathize with Beeps when you realize how much better the new guy is which makes you feel like you’re over your head in your job. Very scary.

Ted Van Roekel

Impostor syndrome sucks high voltage sockets. Beeps, someone has to keep the lights on and the team communicating. Managers MANAGE, and hard driving crusaders go out and fight. Don't feel bad for being a manager. You're the one making sure there's an office to go back to. Best example of this will always be Royce from Transmetropolitan. That guy was a top notch manager, even if he was an ass.

Gary Walker

And that's why Nelson is always employee of the month.

Michael Boettger

The parole officer has a more human-like skin palette. Perhaps he oversees squishies as well as AIs?

Chong Go

"Hmm, I'm going to be working for this guy in three years."

Bill Hall

HA!!Pintsize is being nice!

Anonymous

Wasn’t he also the only other employee until Roko? with Beeps as management.

Mitchell Sealy

I don't think we know what his role is at this institution, beyond that he's employee of the month every month.

Anonymous

i did wonder if we would ever see another pintsize model!

Anonymous

Nelson, such a good guy. Beeps you're awesome don't feel bad

TV4Fun

Having a hard time telling if this guy is an AI or a human.

Michael Boettger

If you look at him in profile, his nose and May's nose are pretty much the same, so I'm going AI.

Michael Boettger

I'm also vaguely reminded of Hanner's boyfriend that her dad sent her, although there's not alot of resemblance.

Valraven

His eyes in panel 3 are a better indicator. They're similar to the eyes of AIs like Pintsize and the small AI in the last panel (is that Nelson? I can't recall)

Shady Roko is best Roko. I'm glad to see she's being the change she wanted to see.

Mitchell Sealy

So far it's seemed that AI's handle all their own legal stuff. AI cops, AI Case Workers, AI Jail. Presumably AI Lawyers and Judges and so forth.

Bagge

Poor Beep. Feeling inadequate sucks :-(

Wood

Square-shaped speech bubbles usually indicate AIs (except for spookybot)

Clifton Royston

I'm sure Beeps has many fine qualities, but she isn't entirely wrong here. If you're out to help people, some level of general competence is good.

Thomas Boys

Nelson is capable. Roko is capable to a frankly terrifying degree.

Anonymous

We've seen him before! Not sure if he actually said anything (I think he might have had a line or two?) but there was a long line of "employee of the month" pictures and they were all him :-)

Bagge

...did she? I'm not sure we got that confirmed. She did at least successfully scare the android body shop manager. Being scared out of your pants yourself helps.

Anonymous

Roko's gunning for her picture on that Employee of the Month wall.

Brent Catherman

Getting some good exposition on AI law. I figured she couldn't get a loan because of her conviction, but wasn't certain about other lines of work.

Bagge

This whole process with May's plight being showcased to multiple people, and she still hasn't called anyone a dick-roomba. Maybe there is hope for her, after all

Nemo of Utopia

What, you assumed she was stupid? (Ok, yes, she thought stealing millions of dollars to become a black-market harrier jet was a good idea, so she's not bright, but she's very consistently learned from every single mistake she's made throughout the entire comic since she first showed up...)

@ the OP: I suspect that is a deliberate choice on his part. A more human-seeming chassis could be very useful to a parole officer, even if his workload does contain entirely paroled AIs, he probably has to deal with a lot of humans in fairly high-stress situations, best to stand out as little as possible whenever feasible...

Nemo of Utopia

Roko is gunning for her picture BEING that "Employee of the Month Wall" in a year's time. (With a little brass plaque under every one that reads 'Later-Day Founder Roko'...)

Peter Jensen

The bit about not being able to do digital work as an AI felon was brought up before, I think in the context of where Pintsize gets the money for all the props for his "performance art". On some level it makes sense, in that you wouldn't want to put them back in a place that might have the same temptation to repeat the crime. But on the other hand, there's *got* to be plenty of customers for CPU cycles that couldn't in any way be bent to crime.

Some Ed

I think she's even managed to learn a bit from other people's mistakes, which can be an impressive feat. Except that she only seems to be able to apply some of that wisdom in her advice to others...

Bagge

I'm just figuring that May has a REALLY strong impulse to call people dick roombas

Omo

Just wanna say, as a person who exists in this limbo IRL... Shit hits home.

Bryce Maryott

You know, I bet Beeps deals with about 10 clients per day, where Roko is spending all day on a single person. Everyone has their place.
