San Dimas, California, 1939. A washed up actor, a wanna be actor, a nervous producer, and an undercover reporter set out to uncover the mystery of a missing film...

This is part one of our stretch goal prequel campaign At the Mountains of Dadness, available to all Patreon supporters!

Also, please find attached an mp3 download of the new theme song!

The plan at the moment is to release Part 2 and Part 3 biweekly, so Nov 14th and Nov 28th.

Please note that both the MBIC (a mini documentary looking at the recording of the 1939 version of Alright with composer Maxton Waller) and Daddy Issues will be releasing sometime next week, as this is such a beefy episode.

Enjoy, and happy Halloween!

Kelsie Charbonneau

Where can I find MP3 links for Season 1 and 2s theme songs?!?!

Kelsie Charbonneau

The best part of Matt saying that Robert is nose blind, is that my partners name is Robert and he is actually nose blind, hahaha.

yeswecanada

I just became a Patreon after eating up all of the current eps and was left wanting for more. This bonus content is SO GOOD! I love Beth's old tyme voice, it puts a big ol smile on my face!

Just a fun little antidote from me listening to this for the first time the word f*** was actually going during world war II as a slang term that soldiers would say however it was seen as a pretty pretty nasty swear word back in the day and even some soldiers would refuse to use it but after the end of world war two fall of the Nazis and Italians and Japanese the words started to grow popularity so if you're taking place and then 1939 the word would have been around but it would have been kind of uncommonly you so for the director not the director owner of the company or whatever to use the word f*** is just a bit uncommon but not unheard of

Jose Vivanco

This began my obsession with Cthulhu and H.P. Lovecraft

Stephanie Berry

Omg. Is the phone operator related to Dorito Davito? 😂

siogosho

hildy russet was only 23? she should have been at the club

Leah L

This is the perfect level of horror for me I love it

Esmé

the spirit of hp lovecraft tempting anthony to say something racist

Jordyn Koyyen

Looking forward to this. Thanks, guys.

Nathan

Is this going to show up in the regular podcast spots? I'm pretty dedicated to using Overcast for my podcasting.

Austin Baker

OMG BETH'S VOICE IS AMAZING! I'm so glad we hit this stretch goal

Shannon Blue

That was FANTASTIC. Great job!!!

Meredith Stanley

Having watched the youtube videos of these being recorded, it's so dang good to hear it clearly! MAGIC

Cassandra Cordova

Y'all I looked up Sessue Hayakawa and holy shit VERY MUCH A HEARTTHROB

Andrew Duck

Is the new theme also done by Maxton Waller, and will it also be available to purchase?

Taylor

My god, Beth is incredible! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Having her be the uncle also neatly explains why she can be so sweet as her character but Ron can be raised under someone much harsher. Ever character really has depth and as a team you mesh together so well. You make me want to play dnd again. Thank you!

Allison Phillips

Oh man, I tried to hang, but the body horror was too much 😭 being a wuss is such a bummer sometimes.

Margaret Campbell

Watched this at work and started losing my shit. So good!!

Stephanie R Corrigan

Okay the combo of the amazing horror themes and that audio editing 😬 I listened to this last night in the dark and it was AMAZING!! And gross lmao

Emmy Dee

You know out of curiosity I googled "health insurance california" and the first policy was started in 1939, what a time to be alive.... for california 🤣🤣🤣

Todd Forsyth

Such a good idea to put this in this time period...

This is insanely good, I’m in love with the new version of the theme song

Maxim Gagnon

Really great spooky podcast. Love the theme and the roleplaying, its really like watching a movie. Love you guys!

Shannon Herbert

I want the full version of the theme on the Rocks Rock Mixtape. This has also got me wondering what the relationships are like between the dads and their grandparents. I like to think that Ron got some of his kindness from Stud.

Vonn Frey

I've read some h.p Lovecraft before and this is nothing like him.I mean this is way spookier than his stuff.

Dean Smiley

This was amazing, cant wait for part 2

My eyes my eyes. Great episode

Ashley Laduranteay

I love this so much but it's so hard to get through it because of all the horror. Like I knew it was going to be dark but I didn't realize it was going to be this a dark. It's only because you are all such an amazing talent that I'm going to actually listen through the entire thing.

Miriam

This was so good! Really different from the main campaign and yet you can tell the shared characteristics with the main dads!

lilguy31

Oooo that got dark

PhantomMothStew

Holy smokestacks that was fantastic 🙌🏼

Caitlin Rochlin

So other than Ron's great-uncle none of the characters in this episode actually have kids yet, right? How's that gonna work in the timeline if they die?

Pauls Svalbe

I really like the immediate use of CoC lore with the "Yellow King Cab"

Gene Leybag

I had to become a patron when I heard that you were dropping this! Man, Anthony leaned hard into the body horror stuff and the ambiance especially the sound effects were crazy! Great episode and well worth becoming a patron!

Anonymous

I hope you guys start to PUSH!

Bob McCoog

OMG! This was INCREDIBLE! I am so glad I found y'all and so glad I decided to contribute to y'alls patreon!

Is there going to be any Talking Dads for this mini-series?

Martin

Totally loved this! This could be an ongoing series.

Fernando Raigoza

This was simply incredible... there are no words... you can’t see me but but I’m giving you a standing ovation

Setmon

Hey. Where can I find the additional monthly content for patreons, i.e., the witch episode just released? Thanks

Chris Wall

Finally some God damn representation! I'm anosmic aka "nose blind" 😂 I don't have a sense of smell!

Anonymous

Beth! I looooove your accent and character in this one 🤣😍

Anonymous

Finally got around to listening and just wanted to say how mind-blowingly good this is. The music and storytelling was seriously incredible. Can't wait to hear the rest of these!

The Broken Seal

Isn't the 2nd one supposed to be out today?

Anonymous

Freddie wrote on Discord that he was doing the final checks on the episode, that was ~30 mins ago.

Montanna Tilton

This is so freaking good oh my god. The sound effects and editing? The roleplaying? Fucking incredible. Also spooked me pretty bad while I was driving home from class tonight, lmao. I'm gonna try to ration the second episode.

Anonymous

So I work in film preservation & I was literally winding through severely deteriorated film in a dimly lit room while listening to this. Gertrude’s entire section and film monologue was viscerally fucking horrifying! Fucking hell, incredible writing Grandaddy Master.

Anonymous

So glad I paid money for this.. this is great

Anonymous

It wont let me listen 😭

Aubry Tucker

SOLID Yellow King reference. That's one of my favorites and I had to pause the episode and collect myself.

Anonymous

Hey there. I know it has been awhile, but what system or rulebool or campaign dude you guys use. I am trying to start one with my group but I just don't know what to use and also if there are any character sheets to use or make as well. Any info is very much appreciated. Thank you.

Olivia Marino

This is the first time I realized that Glenn is Asian American.

Anonymous

It was not a good idea to listen to this while eating dinner... Gertrud’s sound effects did bot make it easier to get things down🤢

Tanya Scott

This is definitely what made me subscribe. So excited for the other chapters of this. The call of cthulu system is great.

UK fan (Dan)

This is absolutely class

Addy Nelson

Holy shit I lost it at “Deen Koontz” lolll

Ultramike

Can I have "Whatever revs your engine, as long as I drive your car." on a t-shirt?

Anonymous

How can I add this to Overcast app? When I try use the “Get RSS feed” from patreon, I just get normal D&D feed

SpellCaster Blaze

I just realized… Meryl Streep never explicitly took off the stilts… which DRASTICALLY changes the rest of the miniseries

Anonymous

What an amazing episode!

Samantha Stevens

so fun to listen too! I love the swing 1930s feel!

meikoisasleep

still one of the best one shots ever holyy

Sabrina

I feel so BAD for Beth's character! What a sweetie :(

Emilio95

I’ve been on Patreon for maybe a year but this is my third time listening to this miniseries. I just absolutely love this and wish there was a whole campaign of this!

Oddity Monger

1:24:07 Freddie has a line read that should def make it into the Morning Zoo Crew soundboard he's working on lol

Peter Blenski

3 years later and I still love this mini series. So funny and the story unfolds so well.
