I only sat down for Part 1 yesterday. I don't think I'll ever get used to the aspect ratio, but some of what I was watching was actually compellingish. The Wonder Woman scene was laugh out loud funny though.

Lol watched it in two separate sittings yesterday. I actually didn't see the other one. Didn't care. Watched this with my bf out of curiosity and now I am BAFFLED by the reviews. But at the same time, how can you give a crucified martyr a bad review on his film when he's been trying to get it released for four years, and his daughter died during production? You don't. You appease the Twitter trolls and crazy Snyder fans so you, too, aren't cancelled. Oh and how about that aspect ratio, guys? Releasing a 4 hour long special-effects filled superhero film in 4:3, when most people have 16:9 tvs. For me personally, I loved the blue and red glares filling the sides of the frames during some of the bigger action sequences. Kill..... Me.....

Over indulging, sure. Unnecessarily long, yep. Completely different movie, yes. It's a pandemic with a dwindling choice of newer things to watch, screw it if the guy wants to make a 4 hour miniseries/not miniseries movie. Sure, Fellowship was a great film...but the 4 hour director cut? Eh, mostly extra bloat, just because he could - same same, but different..but still same.

Did you hear about the Little Zack Snyder Watcher that could? He just kept watching along, chuga chugga chugga, woop woop. It was only when the third act ended and the movie kept going and Charlie I mean Zack was like Keep watching KEEP WATCHING DAMMIT that the Little watcher that could blew up and Bubba came out the back, both eyes missing and he said "I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!! I CAN'T FEEL MY EYES!!!" and I said "Bubba you ain't GOT NO EYES!!!"

They failed so badly at starting their cinematic universe that they are literally redo-ing the movie. That's what this is about (this is not "a treat" for the fans) and I wish this was discussed more in the mainstream discourse.

4 hours?! Jeez, I'm going to wait on the HitB now. I'm not a big comic movie fan, but I do have a soft spot for Jack Kirby-created characters like Darkseid. But yeah, at 4 hours, I'll wait until I see what Mike & Jay have to say before investing that sort of time into a movie I'm already iffy about.

I kind of had zero interest in seeing it, but I was pleasantly surprised by a lot of it. I was kind of shocked by how much I ended up not hating Aquaman. I wish that Aquaman was the one in his own movie, but I guess I can't get that now. Oh well. The movie looked stunning too.

Well, those LOTR films are extended editions, not director’s cuts. It’s not like Jackson wanted to release those films in theatres but couldn’t. They just include extra stuff from the books that’s interesting but was intentionally left out of the theatrical version for pacing and plot reasons. Very different to releasing a bloated mess and thinking it’s high art.

A VHS fits about 4 hours of footage on it in LP mode. Most VHS media were in the 4:3 format. The Snyder Cut is in 4:3 and about 4 hours long. Mr. Plinkett has a broken VCR. Is Snyder trolling?

At least the Snyder cut of Justice League makes a lot more sense as a movie. Cyborg was a solid character, I don't know why they cut so much of him from the original. I could have done without the 30+ minutes of Themyscira which seemed like it was added solely to try to capitalize off of the popularity of the first Wonder Woman movie. Also, it seems to me writers for the DC movie/tv universe clearly do not understand that Batman is the real person and Bruce Wayne is just the mask. Less Bruce Wayne and more Batman. And why did he bother using the voice distorter when everyone around either knew or didn't care about his Bruce Wayne alter ego? Unfortunately, I worry that this cut of the movie will make people forget how absolutely terrible Wonder Woman 1984 and Superman v Batman were.

I had no interest in this, and have hated pretty much every Zack Snyder movie since Watchmen (which is still pretty mediocre), but I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised by this. The movie is far too long, due in large part to Snyder giving in to some of his worst impulses when it comes to slow motion and tonally weird music interludes (of which I counted at least four), but the character stuff works surprisingly well and what's going on actually makes sense now. As someone who likes the DC characters more than Marvel, I can't say I particularly want Snyder to make more movies with these characters, but part of me is slightly curious about where he planned on taking the story.

This was the first ZS movie I've seen where I didn't feel like I was looking at the world through the eyes of deeply disturbed, sick an twisted mind - I don't know what it is about his films, he has a way of... sexualizing (for lack of a better term) the violence that makes me really concerned about his sanity - there's generally a meanness to the tone that comes across that is hard to put into words. Other than the scene at the beginning of JL where terrorist man wants to shoot kids, and the sound mix really plays up the screams, and all the glory shots of him switching modes on the gun, it didn't really come across in this one.

It's a "better" "movie" than the original cut - that's the problem. It took a 1/10 absolute trainwreck that was almost fascinating to dissect, if not hilarious to point and laugh at, and turned it into a... 4/10 snoozefest. Literally all that happens is the justice league forms up, resurrects superman, and punches the bad guy, and for some reason known only to Zack Snyder, that takes four fuckin hours. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
