Poo In An Alleyway

Oooooh I’m so excited! Almost 100 episodes!

Alessio Roic

Let me guess - all the peaks are Rich's laughs?

Anonymous

Got some real Walter Murch shit going on here.

This stresses me out thinking about the worst case scenario of doing all this work, not hitting save, and then the software crashing.

Anonymous

This is probably nothing compared to editing Mr. Plinket

Anonymous

Hey, there’s a black frame around 00:56:12! 📺

Anonymous

This looks like a nightmare

Anonymous

Do y'all not expand the markers? (If you press alt/opt and drag the marker you can expand it to see the text label.

Anonymous

I wish I could begin to understand this.

Anonymous

Its like poetry. It rhymes.

Anonymous

What's even more impressive is that it's stylistically designed to be that way.

Peter Varga

it's this complicated only because Jay kept using this as an excuse to get out of the discussion about Star Trek

Anonymous

Looks like a lot of work but it's pretty.

Anonymous

Now I don't feel so bad when my own end up having 14 video tracks!

Anonymous

This would make a nice wallpaper border round a room.

Anonymous

I'm always how much effort and work goes into these things. Its a good reminder that I have to work hard even if i dont want to look like im working hard

Do you guys do a multi cam source sequence?

Andre K

An hour and 19, good... Rich's laugh track is widely dispersed, good... I can also see 2 Star Trek references, very, very good!

Anonymous

This is clearly Nukie. Finally. 😏

Anonymous

Next time live version please. 5 hours? 8 hours? More pain!!!

Anonymous

Adobe Premiere?

Anonymous

how do you edit this so precisely so quickly? Just practice?

Erik Sheedlo

Mike and Rich like Star Trek?! I assumed they were Stargate fans....

Marvin Falz

I'm learning editing (on DaVinci Resolve), and more than 2 video and 4 audio tracks look complicated. I started with Cyberlink's PowerDirector, which is less complicated to work with than with Resolve, but which also offers far less possibilities to manipulate the footage. Right now I'm at a point, where editing with Resolve starts to be fun.

Lisa

Okay, I'll admit it: I have no idea what I'm looking at. I just always think these are gorgeous because of the colors and shapes but if anyone would like to enlighten me I'm happy to learn.

Anonymous

i think i spotted where Rich’s comment/ reaction is repeatedly made fun of.

Anonymous

This is one beautifully organized timeline.

Neil Peart, Lord of Drums

This is amazing. I have no idea what any of it means, but I can still tell that it's amazing. Jay, have you finally seen Heat yet?

Anonymous

Every single frame has so many things going on

Anonymous

I've seen the whole episode now.

Katy

Data visualization is always appealing and somehow satisfying.

stephen m

I tried to make a 1 minute meme video for my work using da vinci (my first time editing video) and almost threw the computer out the window trying to get the tracking to work. Good luck!

Anonymous

I was gonna say I'm looking forward to the HITB on the Snyder cut but I completely understand if you can't bring yourselves to watch it. 25 minutes in and I'm already deeply embarrassed for everyone involved.

Anonymous

Fuckkkkkk that......it looks so time consuming

Anonymous

Can we get a justice league hitb

Marvin Falz

The shapes are pieces of video, audio, pictures, stills, freeze frames. The colors help to differentiate video and audio, or different types of video and audio. The first five rows counting from the bottom of the timeline seem to be dedicated to audio. There, the large green pieces are probably background music, the smaller blue, green, grey and pink-ish shapes are probably audio from the movies, they've watched, audio from their reactions, wheelspinning, reading movie summaries, their discussion, related or unrelated b-roll audio, and sound effects. Green might be color code for music; blue for audio, they have recorded; grey for audio from the movies. The pink-ish colors perhaps color codes their discussion. The marker at the 10 minute mark probably shows where the discussion part begins. The six rows counting from the top of the timeline seem to be dedicated to video and video effects. The blue shapes are probably the footage they have recorded. All other colors are probably footage from the movies, they've watched, b-roll, overlays. I hope I'm not too wrong with my assumptions.

Holy shit that looks terrifying

Anonymous

Just edit in camera!

Curtis

I see why you guys always have a gun on set.

Anonymous

Jesus. I know it's a lot of work but it's appreciated; you guys are the best. Just keep doing what you do.

David Arcaine

Jay doesn't even see ones and zeroes anymore; all he sees is blond, brunette...
