Thanks guys, stay healthy! I'm stoked for this one

The Data episodes are my fav.

Mike St Louis

Continued in part twoooooooo....

If Sub Rosa isn’t #1 I’ll be livid

Marvin Falz

I really love Mike's methodical approach to find his most favorite episodes. I really hate that I still don't find TNG as gripping as TOS, I recently stopped watching in the middle of season 2 (The Icarus Factor). Anyway, love to listen to Mike and Rich talk endlessly about Star Trek!

Mike stuns the TNG fandom by declaring Masks the best episode

Anonymous

this last hour just passed in a flash...

"Tapestry" changed my life back when I was a scared high school mamma's boy in the 90s. Good choice.

Anonymous

I'm just praying Netflix doesn't pull ST before I finish DS9.

JTruts

Just finished watching, so great, can't wait for part two, and Jay's revenge episode on the 5 best episodes of Twin Peaks.

Anonymous

Once again you show that Kurtzman-trek is embarrassing! The writing was really good back in TNG times. At least they tried to do something fun, clever or thought provoking back then. Can’t wait for the next episode! Pls do ds9 and voyager episodes as well!

Anonymous

This was a really nice conversation, good job guys.

Anonymous

I second the motion for DS9 and Voyager. But I'd also like to add Enterprise in the mix.

Anonymous

What a wonder review! Welp time to watch it again!

Mike W

Oh man I needed this today. We need one for DS9, Voyager!

Anonymous

You can't tease us with a (part 1) without telling us when we'll see the (part 2)!

Mike & Rich Trek talk is my happy place. I've seen every TNG ep, but haven't watched in a long time. This reminded me how much I love it & that I need to watch them all again. Thanks guys!!

Anonymous

Excellent video, I can't wait for part 2. I like the variance in the type of episodes you guys have selected so far and that there is no overlap as of yet. Maybe this is too sugary, but I like that you guys are talking about Trek you enjoy. We need a little bit of positivity to make it through this time unscathed. Not forced positivity or positivity for the sake of positivity but let's talk more about stuff that makes us happy like TNG does for you two. Thanks, dudes.

Anonymous

Excellent video! I mirrored many of your sentiments and love all the episodes you picked as well!

Anonymous

Honestly, some of their best videos and movie commentary are the ones with Movies they like.

Rhea

I'm on par with Jay when it comes to Star Trek knowledge but I just love seeing my two grandpas talk about life before the war. P. S. Mike that's a nice button-up but you blend right into the got dang curtains.

AllGoodNamesRGone

I've said before that I'm not a fan of Star Trek, but I always watch RLM to support the fellas. After all the Shatner stuff, I'm hoping it hasn't affected Mike's fandom. Keep being you, Mike. We appreciate you and the work RLM does.

Anonymous

I never knew it was Mike's dad that got him into Trek - I wonder what he thought of the recent Shatner ordeal? But this was a really great video - I hope you guys do DS9 in the future!

Anonymous

For TNG things don’t get “good” until season 3. If that’s what your referring to. Not that the first two seasons don’t have their gems. It’s just season 3 on TNG. Finds it footing.

Anonymous

Really great video! I'm in the middle of a TNG rewatch (for the first time since I was watching the reruns totally out of order as a teen), so I've been really lucky on the timing for this. Thanks for a wonderful discussion; really looking forward to part two!

Anonymous

I could literally watch these two guys talk about Star Trek for hours. Oh, wait...

Anonymous

Please see this message from your fans and Jonathan Frakes https://youtu.be/sRkxMR9uO1Q

Nathan Carlson

Mike, would you do this for TOS?

Anonymous

Great! I’ll take all the TNG/DS9/VOY talk I can get!

Anonymous

My wife and I love rlm and Star Trek, we loved this episode. Can’t wait for part 2

Silentphil9

THERE. ARE. TWO. FRAUDS!!!!

Max Eliaser

You LIKE the episode where Picard sleeps with a college student?

Anonymous

The Drumhead isn’t #1 on both your lists?!? Unsubscribe! And a pox on you! Free Simon Tarses!

I'm just now watching TNG for the firs time on Netflix. I am a few episodes into season 2. Can someone tell me what the latest episode they cover is in this re:View. I kinda want to avoid spoilers for the really good episodes!

lemmy101

If you're that concerned about spoilers then its probably not a good video for you, most of the best eps that are likely to feature in these two videos are from S3 onward when TNG became amazing. One in particular discussed heavily is the most famous 2 part eps of TNG and are from end of season 3 and start of season 4. Though if you've seen First Contact you'll likely be aware of the events of the 2 parter in some respects. Although it wasn't in this video, the last ever episode will very likely be discussed too.

This was a delight. To hear Mike and Rich talk about Star Trek in a positive light for longer than a couple of minutes at a time was great.

Anonymous

I think I smiled through this whole thing. Thank you, gents. Great picks so far. Can't wait for round 2. The line from "Tapestry" that always makes me laugh, even though I know it's coming, is Q coming in saying "Flowerrrs! Is there a Gene Luck Pickerd?"

Anonymous

I won't be watching this immediately because I don't want to be spoiled for these episodes because... I finally started watching TNG! Thanks for the final push to get me to start it... I really love it. There honestly aren't words for how much I've been enjoying it so far, and I'm only on season one! Thank you!! 🥺✨

lemmy101

ha and S1 is the corny poor TNG before it finds its feet. S3 is when it truly becomes awesome so you should be loving it by then!

Mike St Louis

Good watch. When I saw the Best of Both World’s discussion going over 30 mins I knew it was going to be a long one. No problem though. Mike’s categories got me thinking and I thought of another one that comes up often as a theme: Episodes about the holodeck/transporter There is a sub-category about these technologies malfunctioning as well. Ready for part 2. And any more installments...

Anonymous

Thank You!!! I could do with 10 more hours of you guys discussing TNG!!!

Anonymous

This was great. I'm not even that big a Trek fan, but Mike's enthusiasm for it is infectious!

Anonymous

These p'tahk frauds better tell us their favorite DS9, VOY, and TOS episodes too!

Anonymous

Amazing. Top notch as always. I love how all the little points I’ve always loved about TNG are noticed and articulated so well in these vids. Outstanding

Anonymous

Good work gentlemen, it's appreciated!

Anonymous

Just joined Patreon today to support Redlettermedia! Been thinking about it for a long time and am really happy to support Mike, Jay, Rich, and everyone!

Anonymous

Okay okay. I have a beef. When you were listing types of episodes you left out "Troy gets mind raped" there is at least one of these every season.

Anonymous

This is now one of my favorite episodes. Seeing Rich come alive and look happy filled my heart. I've been watching old Trek lately but this has certainly made me want to re-watch TNG.

Erzaad

On the topic of Star Trek, I just watched the first episode of Lower Decks. I really liked it!

Anonymous

I hope they do this with DS9 and Voyager as well. Hey, even Enterprise has 5 episodes worthy of watching.

Anonymous

It was fine. Main lady is a bit annoying. I was more disappointed in the lack of Star Trek jokes mostly.

Anonymous

Looks like Tarentino is still in talks to do a 1930s Gangster themed Star Trek... Thoughts? Prayers?

Joey Hollywood

No joke, I was about to make this same comment XD Wording and everything lol

Anonymous

I don't know, I can kind of see why. It certainly is one of the better bottle episodes of TNG. Equal parts heady and silly with a bit of old fashioned drama. Has a philosophical, scientific look of society and culture by examining the mythology of a long dead civilization, like if Joseph Campbell were a xeno-anthropologist. Then throw in Brent Spiner gleefully showing off his acting chops by playing a wide range of characters in an almost schizophrenic mode. You have yourself some classic Star Trek!

Anonymous

I've gotten at least 5 people who don't typically follow RLM to watch this, and they all love it.

Jessie Zimmer

I don't even watch ST but I really enjoy listening to them talk about it. I showed it to my sister (who love TOS and TNG) and then we stayed up watching their Picard episodes. I used them as warnings so she didn't have to suffer through the show.

Anonymous

Jonathan Frakes in his prime (Season 3 or 4 of TNG) was one of the most handsome women I've ever seen.

Anonymous

Thanks for this, it inspired me to cull down my own list of favorites! Which I'm not going to bother sharing here because why should anyone else care? But thank you for the motivation, and I look forward to part 2!
