Hey everyone!

We shot two videos this week. The first is a new Half in the Bag where we discuss two very very different recent digital releases: The Assistant and the new Netflix "movie" "produced" by "Happy Madison," The Wrong Missy.

And then we also shot a new re:View for the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory! It also goes into the Tim Burton version a little bit too.

So many quotes... And it deserves every one.

That Wrong Missy trailer feels like it's a half hour long. Can't imagine what the movie's like

Finally, a re:View of Willy Wonka!! [insert happiness GIF here]

The Wonka re:View has me really excited

Thanks for keeping me sane during quarantine!

I'm looking forward to that Willy Wonka re:View!

Neil Peart, Lord of Drums

Now that Mike has gotten over the trauma of Shoji Tabuchi ruining Picard and the Breen invading American cinema, I imagine he'll be more productive than ever and get back to making Star Trek references about everything. "You know, the chocolate river in Willy Wonka reminds me of that TNG episode Quality of Life, where Alexander and Lwaxana go to that crazy circus in the holosuite." The higher, the fewer!

Great stuff guys. Thanks very much

Fellas, you bless us with your turn out rate for all this sweet ass content.

I imagine it's like sitting next to your fat sweaty uncle at a family reunion talk about his favorite racist jokes and making crude noises.

PowerCage01

That Charile and the Chocolate Factory remake was the peak of the "why does anybody like Johnnie Depp" movement.

Phat94

Chocolate Factory re:view! I guess I shouldn't be surprised after it was used at the very start of the Plinkett Phantom Menace video... looking forward to how you compare it to Burton's version!

Your work ethic is inversely proportional to your personal hygiene these days!

Willy Wonka - excellent choice :) Thank you Guys. Could we perhaps hope for a Flash Gordon re:View?...after listening to Brian Blessed's commentary of course...it's marvellous.

The Wrong Missy certainly appeared to be a movie. I think they took the generic comedy script outline and poured some raunch on it and said "this fulfills our contractual obligation, thanks for the $60M to make it!"

Looking forward to witnessing the beard level

"Led by a powerhouse performance from Julia Garner, The Assistant offers a withering critique of workplace harassment and systemic oppression." no thanks.

Tim burton movie I think is underrated, I really liked everything about it, mainly all the performances of the kids and parents, music, songs and some of the stranger direction choices. Only thing I didn’t like was Johnny Depp’s interpretation of the character, too wacky, too over the top and petulant. which is a pretty big negative I guess lol. It brings to mind the “never go full retard” line lol. But yea the original movie in general did have more heart

“I’m” “excited” for you “guys“ to “review” another “Happy Madison” “production”. “Can’t wait”.

Willy Wonka and the chocolate Factory is the only good musical! Gene Wilder cannot be topped in that role!

Sputnik34

00000000000000 i'm so stoked for these :)

What an update! I laughed, I cried, it's exactly what I needed headed into the weekend! Generic comment about Rich Evans' death or Rich Evans contracting some deadly disease! #RedLetterMediaFinale

Anonymous

Yeah!! I need some distraction from all these disturbing things going on.

I saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the theater... :/

looking forward to that re:view, i used to love watching that movie when i was a kid and now I have to go track down a copy of it!

Katy

Cool! There must be something in the air; I fell down the “watch a half-dozen Gene Wilder interviews” YouTube rabbit hole a day or so ago. I know he was an actor, and therefore a professional liar, but over the years he presented a seemingly genuine nice personality.

Two weird things about "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" that stuck out and I want to know if my fellow RLM fans can relate to either of these experiences: 1. I can't be the only person of a certain age (30-40 years old) who saw Willy Wonka for the first time during school (somewhere between elementary and early high school). It's still the only place where I've seen the full movie outside of random scenes here or there from channel surfing. 2. I thought, hasn't RLM already reviewed Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? Then I remembered what they reviewed was the Sam Raimi OZ movie which all blend together in my mind with Burton's Alice in Wonderland and Burton's Chocolate Factory. All look like dreary acid dreams. Terrible looking movies.

There is somehow a lot about Gene Wilder floating around YouTube and the Internet lately, might have to do with Elon Musk talking about a house of Gene's that he may be planning to sell on JRE a couple weeks back.

And always remember, Snowpiercer is the sequel of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

I hope there's gonna be a 1-star review montage for The Assistant

1) Same here. I saw it in... third grade. That scene in the tunnel where the worm goes over the guys mouth freaked me out. To add a bit about Burton's Charlie, I teach in South Korea. I'm always surprised by what bits of American culture are popular here and Burton's version is really popular with my students here. I teach mostly girls so movies like Home Alone, Burton's version, Matilda and Clueless make the rounds often here. I want to tell my kids about the superior original version, but I'll look like old teacher with his silly remember when stories.

I wonder if the infamous chicken head scene will be discussed? It’s a freak out, kids.

Gar Kelleher

I can't imagine them.not talking about it. I used to close my eyes as a kid when that happened.

Can't wait! RLM is my only decent source of entertainment in these quarantine days.

AHHH GODDAMMIT I'M HAVING BOTW WITHDRAWALS, WE ALL KNOW RICH IS IMMUNE TO COVID, JUST SHOOT A NEW ONE ALREADY. Excited for the Willy Wonka re:View tho.

Nathan Carlson

Is the lack of BotW due to covid?

Sad you haven't said anything about what's going on in this country. I will no longer support your Patreon. I hope other people follow.

Anonymous

There's a good chance something will be mentioned in their next videos, just like the way Covid-19 has been a throughline in several of their last videos. Had you paid attention, you might've come to the same prediction. I in turn hope nobody follows you.

Also the updated website looks real slick, by the wayyyy....

Anonymous

Curious if like the COVID skits in the last few episodes they will be address the riots.

I watched my Willy Wonka DVD last night and the featurette included interviews with kids (now adults) from the film. Augustus Gloop still dresses in full German garb. Incredible.
