Loved this reaction & discussion! Cannot believe we’re now on hiatus 😭 What an utterly stunning season finale. Did you watch this and the Psycho-Pass S1 finale the same day, btw? If so, what an excellent ride. It has been a long time since a 15 minute action/fight sequence was so emotionally gripping for me, it completely had me. I have come to really enjoy the difference in how they’re presenting themes and not just plot elements. Environmentalism is a huge part of the story, resource allocation and depletion, etc. In Trigun this had a clear anti-consumerism angle (makes perfect sense for something made in the late 90s); in Stampede I think the focus is intergenerational theft – such a strong emphasis on children being exploited, and their futures being stolen? I have loved this evolution of the story. Another is an element which seems new – gender expression and identity. You spoke at length about it in the discussion – and yes, they’re not being even a little bit subtle about the Knives/Vash dynamic involving literally procreation as a means of control. Even further, part of Knives’ ‘plot’ involves entirely subsuming Vash’s identity for “Vash’s own good” – it is so clearly paternalistic. Very curious about how they will evolve these themes. I would also really recommend the dub – the performances are excellent and it has great flavour. Some of the language they choose is incredibly poetic, they did well. I'm happy you enjoyed this episode immensely!! I had a feeling you would, especially the sequence between Vash and Knives. It was so beautiful and sad. Excited for the manga reactions as well when you get to it! Also I see in another comment that they've recommended some ost tracks.. I'd like to recommend "Knives' piano" as well :))

Ahhh, thank you so much!! This episode was BEAUTIFUL! I loved every minute of it!! And yessss, I was so sad they pushed back the manga delivery date to this spring, but still excited! And yes, hahaha, y'all can tell when I wear the same clothes for reactions but I DID treat myself to Psycho-Pass and Trigun's finale the same day and it was a RIDE! Loved it! This episode was sooooo fantastic in so many ways - And YES, wow, I love that description of intergenerational theft of the 2020's versus anti-consumerism; shows where our mindset as a society and generation is, doesn't it? You can tell the generations behind the writing of each of these adaptations! I love how you worded that! There is this definite theme of gender expression and identity as well, agreed -- it's interesting how Vash has had a very parental dynamic with Rollo and connects to Rem and empathy for the "female" plants in this season, whereas Knives has the very domineering patriarchal energy. I'm curious about how they will go on with that as well! Ooohhh, and I'm adding the dub to my list as well because I have a feeling I will want to return to this series while I wait on the next season and the manga to arrive - but yes, comparing the manga to the anime versions is going to be a lot of fun!
