Loved this reaction & discussion! A new season and new darlings to meet! 🥰 So great to hear you had such a good time with EE! I’ve enjoyed it more on this rewatch with you, and I also know it’s tough for me to have an unbiased opinion on it. e.g. I take issue with some of the ‘reveals’ being pushed to earlier added scenes because it comes across as them losing confidence in the pace of them; the rhythm feels different to me; etc. It’s mostly nitpicky, I love both. But more than that, I let go of any and all ‘vibe-related issues’ I may personally have with it for the one single frame of Kagari in the back of the squad car. Whoever drew that one look on his face bought the show infinite goodwill for me. (Does this count as Week 5? 😂) Really enjoyed all the ‘shipping feelers’ in the reaction+discussion (as we've said, high SPC). “trying to see whose bangs are more poignant” 😂 - characters going to the same hairdresser is so much more than I often need to ship. But this also touches on something – I love everyone’s hair in this show. It is really ridiculous how good-looking everyone is. Can’t wait for next week and getting further into S2! 💙

Thank you for the kind words and comment! i'm SOOOO excited for the new season! Honestly, I liked the extended edition and the additional scenes but I can see why others wouldn't like it. And at least we got some extra Kagari footage, even if it was a death flag - it was more Kagari footage! :) And ahhh, all the shipping being set up here! And clearly the Public Safety Bureau gives discounts to go to the same hairdresser! ;) I'm so pleased so far and DEFINITELY excited for next week! Huzzah!!

Thank you Sunspots for the information about the extra scenes in the Extended Edition! Honestly I liked that version as much as the original. Yes some of those extra scenes and monologues weren't "necessary" but I do feel like some of them added a little more depth to some of the characters (like Kagari's backstory, Masaoka and Ginoza's past, and even seeing into Akane's mental state). Also, you know I'll never say no to a show injecting even more scenes for my shipper heart to have more shipping material 😉😂 This OP is creepy with the repetition and distortions; both are cool effects but my eyes really don't like them so I've only ever been able to properly watch this OP once. The song however I do love. It's by the same rock band who did the first OP, Ling Tosite Sugire. I love that the new characters are so different from our main group from Division 1 in Season One. The opening episode set-up is very similar to that of Season One's, but because all these characters have completely different personalities (and even Kunizuka, Ginoza and Akane have changed from how they were way back in 1x01) it creates a whole different dynamic. Division 2 and some of the way Mika acts is very like the Sibyl System's mindset, i.e. that Enforcers are still latent criminals and therefore expendable. It's definitely intriguing to see that Division 2 don't have that same camaraderie as Division 1 had. Like you said, even though Sasayama was a jerk and most abrasive within their team, from what we saw of him in Season One, he wouldn't have just turned tail on the rest of his team. Kunizuka is our female heartthrob of the show! 🥰 In regards to Mika's age, I think she's possibly classified as a minor (going by Akane and Ginoza's conversation at the end of Season 1 about the "new Inspector that would join them tomorrow"). But I believe the idea of a "minor" or "not of age" in Japan is under the legal drinking age, i.e. 20 years old. Hinakawa definitely made me intrigued with how much more introverted and unsure he seemed in comparison to the other Enforcers we've seen. It made me question how exactly the Sibyl System decides if a latent criminal has the aptitude for a role as an Enforcer. As to what he says that got translated to being slightly cheesy ("I'm going to administer justice!") he said 施行です (Shikou desu.) which if you translate literally basically means "I'm enforcing". For me that feels a bit like a pun on him being an Enforcer, but I don't know if a Japanese person would consider it a bit of a pun too. Now Kougami's out of the picture there's potential for Ginoza to romance Akane 🤣 I did laugh at your feelings on who you want to ship Ginoza with. I just say: Go with all of the ships! 😂 Some seiyuu information: Mika is voiced by Sakura Ayane. She has also voiced: Ochako from Boku no Hero; Gabi from Shingeki no Kyojin; and Fiona Frost from Spy x Family. Togane was voiced by Fujiwara Keiji (the VA sadly passed away in 2020). He had also voiced: Tatsumi from Death Parade; Maes Hughes from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood; Leorio from Hunter X Hunter; and Hannes from Shingeki no Kyojin. Shisui, Division 2's other Inspector, is voiced by Inoue Marina. She has also voiced: Momo from Boku no Hero; young Denji from Chainsaw Man; Mai from Jujutsu Kaisen; and Armin from Shingeki no Kyojin. Hinakawa's, if you can believe, is Sakurai Takahiro (so whilst we don't have Makishima, we still have his seiyuu). And we also have the return of Kimura Ryouhei though he's now voicing a different character (the one that shot the Enforcer from Division 2 in the after credits scene). He's also voiced Bokuto from Haikyuu!!; Kise from Kuroko no Basuke; Hiyori from Free!; Hirotaka from Nozaki-kun; and Wei Wuxian in the Japanese dub of Mo Dao Zu Shi.

Sunspots definitely went above and beyond on that one! The one of the backstories I feel made me really like the EE even more, including more with Akane. And anything to add to the shipping? YES, PLEASE. The OP, I agree, the visuals can be hard to look at, but I like the song a lot! Yes, since Akane and Ginoza (and Kunizuka too) have such different personalities from the first season, it does make it feel like a new opening. And that Division 2 functions a lot less…chummy…than Division 1! And Kunizuka being the one everyone loves! I’m here for it! Yes! Hinakawa being so shy and introverted, it does make you question how he got the job, though, I don’t know if you’ve watched Episode 2 yet, so I won’t say anymore, but I think the question gets answered for us. ;) That’s good to know about the pun, too! Can we just ship Ginoza with everyone? Including me? Okay, thanks. Works for me. Okay, so the VA info! Mika being Gabi’s VA too is interesting and makes sense! And Togane - I remember that VA passing so that’s really sad! :’) I remember when Hannes’s VA was replaced by Tsuda and that was the reason in AOT. And wow, the other Div. 2 inspector Shishui being Armin’s VA is really interesting! Okay, but wait…WHAT?! Hinakawa’s VA is Makishima?! WHAT!? I…but….why? That’s the most bizarre thing ever! And the VA that plays Kamui is the one that plays the enforcer shot in the last season? Weird…..that’s a little bizarre. But hmmm…we’ll go with it! Thanks for the kind words and comment!
